What is Sefa-utaki?

Sefa-utaki is a sacred place of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which existed in what is now Okinawa prefecture. Utaki means “holy land” and you can observe six sacred areas that exist in Sefa-utaki. This is the place where ceremonies, festivals and other events were held and many people visit the place as a power spot.

We recommend touring with a guide for people who want to know the myths and history of each place in detail. There are guided tours on weekends and holidays and you can join for 300 yen per person for high school students and up.

Entrance Fees and Hours of Operation

300 yen per person for adults high school age and older, 150 yen for elementary and junior high school students. Hours of operation change depending on the season. From March to October it is 9:00 to 18:00 and from November to February is it 9:00 to 5:30. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.

In order to protect the natural environment of Sefa-utaki as a holy place, we have rest days twice a year so please check the website before your visit.

Access

You should borrow a rental car and come to Sefa-utaki by car. There is a parking lot and it is about a 7 minute walk from the ticket booth.
