About Nirai Beach

Nirai Beach is a beach that is located within the premises of the Hotel Nikko Alivila within Yomitan, Okinawa. You can enjoy a number of activities here at the beach, including snorkeling, dragon boating, and parasailing. The seawater here is very clear and you can see coral reef, tropical fish, starfish, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins.  During low tide, small children can have all kinds of fun getting up close to see the sea creatures. In the past there have even been sightings of sea turtles laying their eggs here. In 2014 the Ministry of the Environment evaluated the water here and gave the water at this beach a ranking of AA, which is the best possible ranking for a seaside resort.
Nirai Beach is also famous for beautiful sunsets and is well known as a spot where you can enjoy the changing beach atmosphere throughout the day. The swimming period is from April to October and there is no fee for swimming.

Access

From Naha Airport you can access the beach by car. Go north on Japan National Route 58 and make a right turn at the Iramina stoplight (伊良皆). The total travel time is about 1 hour. You can also use a shuttle bus that runs from Naha Airport to the Hotel Nikko Alivila. The fee for a one-way trip on the shuttle bus is 1500 yen for middle schoolers and adults, and 750 yen for children from 3 years old to elementary school students.
