Sachibaru Yadui - A retreat in the southern part of Okinawa Main Island, featuring a tranquil garden spread across a slope overlooking the sea, with scattered cafes and accommodations.

Sachibaruyadui

"Sachibaru Yadui" is located on a slope overlooking the sea in Nanjo City, Okinawa.
Sachibaru Yadui is a spot where cafes, accommodations, and relaxation salons are scattered throughout a lush garden, including "Hamabe no Chaya," a cafe with a spectacular view that is representative of Okinawa.

In the 1700s, during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, samurai who had left Shuri cleared the lush, green land as a "new frontier" and established a settlement, marking the beginning of this area. Time passed, and in 1994, Nobuyoshi Inafuku, a descendant of the samurai, opened "Hamabe no Chaya" (Seaside Teahouse) on the land his ancestors had established. Since then, under the theme of "land polishing," Sachibaru Yadui has been creating spaces that utilize elements rooted in the local land.

In the tranquil natural surroundings of Nanjo City, you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy a peaceful Okinawan lifestyle.

1. Enjoy a peaceful time and breathtaking views at "Sachibaru Garden".

"Sachibaru Garden" is a garden known as the "Field of Happiness" that is open free of charge to those who use the cafe, accommodation, or salon at Sachibaru Yardui.
SachibaruyaduiAlthough it's called a "garden," it's not the flat kind you might typically imagine; the key feature is that it's a "three-dimensional garden" that leads up to a small hill.
There are various points of interest along the path as you stroll from bottom to top, and an observation deck is located at the very top.
SachibaruyaduiAlong the way, the plants and flowers sway gently in the wind, and when you turn around, the blue sea of Nanjo City stretches out before you. This scenery is so soothing.
The "Ocean Observation Deck," located roughly halfway along the trail, is a great spot to take a break, offering ocean views from a long, narrow counter table. The journey was more strenuous than expected for someone out of shape, so this was a good place to rest.
SachibaruyaduiAfter recovering my energy, I headed to the observation deck, which boasts a superb location offering panoramic views of the sea, Oujima Island, and Itoman City from a high vantage point! I relaxed in the shade of the trees and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery.
SachibaruyaduiBy the way, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the bottom to the top. When strolling around, sneakers or other comfortable shoes are recommended!

① Cafes "Hamabe no Chaya" and "Yama no Chaya Rakusui"

Inside Sachibaru Yadui, there are two cafes: Hamabe no Chaya and Yama no Chaya Rakusui.

"Hamabe no Chaya" is a well-known cafe in Okinawa that boasts spectacular views. The charm of Hamabe no Chaya lies in the fact that you can enjoy a view of the gently lapping ocean waves from the double-hung windows in front of the counter.
Sachibaruyadui (Teahouse on the beach)Enjoying food, desserts, and drinks while gazing at this view is simply the best! Opened in 1994, this cafe has consistently been at the top of the list of "cafes with spectacular views," and is a must-visit spot if you're in Okinawa.
Sachibaru Yadui Beachside Teahouse Cafe Menu"Yama no Chaya Rakusui" is a hidden gem of a cafe nestled on a hillside surrounded by greenery. In stark contrast to the ocean resort atmosphere of Hamabe no Chaya, it boasts a location surrounded by lush greenery.
Sachibaruyadui Mountain Teahouse RakusuiWhat's most striking is how the back wall utilizes a "giant rock." This visually stunning presentation, which makes use of the original terrain, creates a truly unique atmosphere.
Sachibaruyadui Mountain Teahouse RakusuiHere you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine and pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven. Although surrounded by greenery, its location on a hill means that some seats offer ocean views, which is another highlight.
Sachibaruyadui Mountain Teahouse Rakusui Cafe MenuAt the beachside teahouse, you can enjoy close-up ocean views, while at the mountain teahouse Rakusui, you can enjoy the expansive ocean view from a higher vantage point.
