Parfait | Finish your meal not with ramen or steak, but with a photogenic parfait! A luxurious dessert perfect for an Okinawan night.

Pafenchu

On Heiwa Street, under the arcade of Kokusai Street, stands a neon sign with the character "〆" (meaning "closing" or "finished"). As night deepens and the surrounding shops close one after another, its yellow neon light is particularly eye-catching.
At first glance, it looks like a cafe bar, but this is "Parfenchu," the specialty shop for late-night parfaits that I'm introducing today. I wasn't the only one; other passersby also stopped and seemed interested in the parfaits.
This was my first time at a late-night parfait shop, so I went inside feeling excited.

1. Parfait from Pafenchu

The parfaits are simply adorable! "Pafenchu" offers unique Ryukyu parfaits made with an abundance of Okinawan ingredients. Each component is handmade by the pastry chef, with careful attention paid to sweetness, texture, and appearance.

The one I had this time was "Yorupafe Kuina".

The Okinawa Rail, nestled within the container, is truly a delicate work of art.

We also received some brightly colored "Sandanka" flowers.
Pafuenchu Sandanka
The design is inspired by the Sandanka flower, one of Okinawa's three most famous flowers. It features refreshing fruits such as passion fruit and acerola, resulting in a delightful flavor.

You're given a sheet of paper listing the ingredients used in the parfait, and to my surprise, it contains a whopping 19 different ingredients! Some even contain a small amount of alcohol, offering a sophisticated taste that's unique to Parfaitchu. With its refined flavor and visually appealing presentation perfect for social media, it delights both the eyes and the palate.

There are usually around six types of parfaits on the menu, but the lineup changes from time to time, so please check the shop's Instagram for updates.

2. Inside Pafenchu

The interior is simple yet stylish. There are 11 seats at the counter near the entrance and 14 seats at the tables in the back.

There are also four low counter seats opposite the table seating, making it a casual space where even solo diners can feel comfortable.

The interior of the store incorporates Ryukyu blocks and artwork related to Okinawa, creating a stylish design with a playful feel.

The wire art on the parfait is also very stylish.

The large parfait wall art is filled with lots of fruit. This is another example of Parfenchu's commitment to providing parfaits that are not too sweet, so that you can enjoy them even after drinking.

3. Pafenchu: Opening Hours and Access

Pafenchu
Pafenchu is located in Heiwa-dori, an arcade street that extends from Kokusai-dori.

It's about a one-minute walk from the Heiwadori entrance on the Kokusaidori side.
Across from the entrance to Heiwa-dori is Noren-gai, Okinawa's largest alleyway, so please use that as a landmark.

If you're using the Yui Rail, the nearest station is Makishi Station, about a 7-minute walk away.
If you are coming by car, please note that there is no dedicated parking lot for the shop, so please use a nearby coin-operated parking lot.
