Opened in November 2023, "Naha Maguro Market" is a new seafood market located very close to "Tomari Iyumachi," known as the kitchen of Naha.
The restaurant features fresh tuna as its main ingredient, along with local fish sashimi and seafood bowls. On the second floor, you can enjoy sashimi purchased at the market right there in the eat-in area. In addition, there is an observation deck overlooking the sea, where you can enjoy your meal while taking in the spectacular view.

1. Tuna takes center stage! Fresh fish lined up in the market
The building houses seven fish shops, offering a wide variety of exceptionally fresh seafood, from seasonal local fish to bluefin tuna and medium-fatty tuna.

They also offer chunks and scraps, and their value packs, priced at around 500 yen and containing a generous amount, are very popular.

As the name "Tuna Market" suggests, the main attraction is, of course, tuna.

They offer a wide variety of sashimi, from blocks and platters to ready-to-eat rice bowls. They also sell vinegared rice separately, so you can create your own original seafood rice bowl by adding the sashimi you bought at the market.

It's smaller than the neighboring "Tomari Iyumachi," but that means you can enjoy a more relaxed shopping experience, which is a great plus for families with children. The customers are mainly locals, and it might be a hidden gem of a market that's not yet well-known to tourists.
2. Eat-in space and observation deck overlooking the sea
After taking a stroll around the market, head to the eat-in area on the second floor.

The spacious eat-in area has both table and counter seating, so you can enjoy your purchased sashimi or rice bowls right away. There are a total of four tables. Children's chairs were also available.

On the table were soy sauce, vinegar, disposable chopsticks, and tissues.

Outside, there's a wood-paneled observation deck where you can enjoy a meal in an open space with a panoramic view of the harbor.

Enjoying sashimi while gazing at the blue sea and fishing boats is an exceptional experience! It also makes for great photos.

Additionally, there's a fully equipped baby room on the second floor. Having a diaper changing and breastfeeding space is a welcome feature for mothers with young children.

3. Opening Hours and Parking – Compared to the neighboring "Tomari Iyumachi" –

There is a spacious free parking lot in front of the Naha Tuna Market. It is easily accessible, about 15 minutes by car from Naha Airport and about 10 minutes from the center of Naha city.
Next door is "Tomari Iyumachi," another popular spot where you can enjoy market gourmet food, including fresh seafood.
The prices seem to be about the same. Nahama Tuna Market has a wide selection of its main attraction, "tuna," and a relaxed eat-in space, making it easy to visit even with children. Tomari Iyumachi has a wide variety of goods and is recommended for those who want to enjoy the lively atmosphere of a market.
It's only about a 3-minute walk away, so it would be great to go market-hopping and fully enjoy the local cuisine!
