I've compiled a map showing the locations of Miyakojima Mamoru-kun!
As of April 2024, a total of 21 statues have been installed: 17 on Miyako Island and one each on Irabu Island, Shimoji Island, Ikema Island, and Tarama Island.

"Miyakojima Mamoru-kun" is a police officer-shaped doll that watches over traffic safety in the Miyako Islands day and night.
It all started in 1996 when the Miyako District Traffic Safety Association installed five of them, and now they are set up as a family of 20 boys and 1 girl, each with their own name.

"Takaya," who was installed on Ikema Island in the fall of 2023, originally resided on Irabu Island.
The factory that produced the base dolls for Miyakojima Mamoru-kun has already closed down, making it difficult to build a new one. As a result, local residents are carefully preserving the existing Mamoru-kun dolls by repairing them as needed.

By the way, I looked around at the beginning of 2024, but there have been several changes since then, so please note that some of the current installation locations may differ!

Miyakojima Mamoru-kun & Miyakojima Maruko-chan

Miyakojima's "Mamoru" and the only girl, Miyakojima's Maruko-chan, are standing in front of the Miyakojima Police Station.

A special resident registration certificate is displayed between the two people.

Miyakojima Masao

Kiyoshi-kun is near Daiei Ready-Mix Concrete on Irabu Island.

Miyakojima Junki

I'm at a five-way intersection near Watoguchi Port, just after arriving on Shimoji Island. It's about a 3-minute drive from Kiyoshi-kun.

Miyakojima Izuru-kun

The character standing in front of Miyakojima Municipal Ueno Elementary School is Izuru-kun.

Miyakojima Kiyoshi-kun

Kiyoshi-kun is near the Ueno German Village bus stop.

To avoid being told "Agannya! Nande tomaranai ka (meaning: Oh dear, why won't it stop?)" which is written on the weighted part of the vehicle, be sure to practice traffic safety.
