1. Enjoy the spectacular view from Manzamo Cape.
First, let's talk about the main attraction, Manzamo!
The name Manzamo is said to have originated from the fact that it was once described as "a field large enough for ten thousand people to sit on." ("Mo" means "field" or "open space.")

In modern terms, it would be something like "a public square where many people can gather together."
The word "Manzamo" is written at the entrance to the walking path leading to Manzamo. There are also patterns of traditional Okinawan minsa weaving on the ground, so this would be a good spot to take a commemorative photo.

If you continue this way, you'll come across Manzamo! You can enjoy the vibrant greenery, the ocean stretching to the horizon, and the endlessly vast sky all at once.

This is what it looks like from above. The person in charge of managing Manzamo smiled wryly and said, "Everyone thinks of Manzamo as a place with a spectacular view of cliffs and the sea, but actually it's just this grassy field..." (laughs)

The walking path surrounding Manzamo is about 300 meters long. If you keep walking without stopping, it takes less than 10 minutes to complete a loop. It's slightly smaller than a baseball field.

Even though Manzamo is mostly an open field, the Elephant Rock, which resembles the profile of an elephant, is still a must-see. Seeing it in person, its size and ruggedness make you feel the grandeur of nature.

While sunny locations are recommended, Manzamo also offers a unique opportunity to witness the raw power of nature when the sea is rough.

Enjoying the evening as the sun begins to set is also a sophisticated way to experience the area. The atmosphere changes completely from daytime, and you can enjoy the moody scenery as the sun sets.

2. [Manzamo Area Revitalization Facilities] where you can buy and eat.
Manzamo offers more than just natural beauty. The "Manzamo Area Revitalization Facility," which opened in 2020, has become a new point of interest.

It houses souvenir shops and restaurants, making it the perfect place to take a break after strolling along the walking trails at Manzamo.
The spacious interior is impressive. The first floor is the souvenir shop area, and the second floor is the restaurant area.

The restaurant area on the second floor is packed with shops that exude an Okinawan atmosphere. This time, I ordered Goya Champuru at Ryukyu Cuisine Matsunoshita.

With its mild flavor, even those trying champuru for the first time will likely enjoy it. (Originally, it's just champuru on its own, but during lunchtime, it comes with rice and soup as shown in the picture!)
For dessert, we had Ryukyu Mitsuya Balls from Mitsuya Honpo, a specialty shop for sata andagi (Okinawan doughnuts).
It has a crispy exterior and a moist interior. It's perfect as a snack and would be great to take along on a road trip.

On the first floor, the souvenir shop "SHOP MANZAMO" is lined with classic Okinawan souvenirs. But what caught my eye was the local sake.

There is a corner dedicated to Onna Village's only sake brewery, "Onna Sake Brewery," where you can enjoy shopping for local specialty products.

This shop offers not only classic souvenirs but also local specialties.
By the way, there is a 100 yen entrance fee to Manzamo. You can purchase tickets from the ticket vending machine located at the back of the first floor of the Manzamo surrounding area revitalization facility.
3. Enjoy views of Manzamo Cape and the Saikai coast from the wooden deck.

If you visit Manzamo, you should definitely check out the wooden deck at the Manzamo surrounding area revitalization facility! You can enjoy the spectacular view of Manzamo from the deck as well.
The wooden deck on the second floor, adjacent to the restaurant area, is equipped with tables and chairs. You can sit back and relax while enjoying the stunning views of Manzamo's greenery and the sea.
What's more, you can enjoy the spectacular view while eating the food and desserts you ordered in the restaurant area on the second floor – it's simply perfect.

And to top it all off, there's even an observation deck on the 3rd floor!

The view is higher than from the second floor, and since there's no roof, you can fully experience the sky, greenery, sea, and nature of Onna Village.

Both wooden decks boast fantastic locations, making it difficult to choose between them. They are perfect spots for taking photos.
4. Access to Manzamo

Manzamo is located in Onna Village, in the northern part of Okinawa. It's about an hour's drive from Naha Airport.
A spacious free parking lot is available, and including the second parking lot, it can accommodate a total of about 300 cars.

Final thoughts
Manzamo, long popular as a scenic spot, starting with the Elephant Rock, has become even more vibrant with the opening of a new facility revitalizing the area around Manzamo, which includes souvenir shops and restaurants.
In particular, the views from the wooden decks on the 2nd and 3rd floors are absolutely stunning! I highly recommend you pay a visit.
