1. The Charm of Maipari Tropical Orchard

Maipari Miyako Island Tropical Fruit Orchard - Exterior View

First, let me explain what "Maipari" is.

In the local dialect, "pari" means "field," and since the people of the Yonaha area call Maehama Beach (maipama or maibama), there is a deep origin to the name "maipari," which means a field adjacent to Yonaha Maehama Beach.

The approximately 6-hectare grounds are teeming with island bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and rare tropical fruit trees and flowering plants, which can be explored by cart as if on an adventure.
The covered carts are a great feature, allowing you to enjoy the ride even in the rain.

Enticed by the sweet scent, and sometimes feeling the sea breeze, it's a wonderful place where you can spend a refreshing time♪

2-1. Take a guided cart ride and stroll through the orchard!

The park's biggest attraction is the tropical guided tour! You'll take a tour of the park with a guide, which takes about 25 minutes.

There are many trees you probably won't have the chance to see, including the flame tree, one of the world's three most beautiful flowering trees, and the jaboticaba, which bears fruit directly on its trunk.
You'll also pass by areca palm trees, a symbol of the tropics, and fruit trees such as mangoes and island bananas—trees that will make you want to pick them up and eat them right away.

Adults can enjoy seeing all sorts of fruits and plants, but children get excited just by seeing the colorful carts!

2-2. Get a relaxing time with our experience programs.

In one corner of the property is a ranch where Miyako horses, designated as a natural monument of Okinawa, await.

The Miyako horse is a native breed and is said to be one of the few remaining in the world. It's small and has a cute face, making it perfect for commemorative photos!
Also, on weekends only, you can experience pony rides. This is for elementary school children and younger, so if you're bringing your kids, please consider joining!

*The Miyako horse exhibit is only accessible to those participating in a guided tour.

2-3. A wide selection of souvenirs and goods from Miyako Island that you'll want to get your hands on.

The visitor center is lined with souvenirs that showcase the unique characteristics of Miyako Island.
From teas and seasonings that soothe the body to dressings made with carefully selected ingredients, everything is perfect as a souvenir for yourself!

In addition, Maipari sells seasonal fruits such as bananas, pineapples, mangoes, and star fruit, so if you see them, I recommend picking them up.

They may not be available depending on the harvest season, so consider yourself lucky if you find them!

3. Enjoy smoothies made with seasonal fruits grown at MyPari!

The produce harvested from the fields can be enjoyed on the spot as part of a tropical menu.
One of their most popular smoothies changes with the seasons, and this time I got to try their "atemoya" smoothie!

Maipari Miyako Island Tropical Fruit Orchard Atemoya

Atemoya is a luxury fruit created by improving the three most beautiful fruits in the world: durian, mangosteen, and cherimoya.

Atemoya, also known as the "ice cream of the forest," boasts a sugar content of over 20 degrees!
With such rich and deep-flavored fruits turned into smoothies, there's no way they wouldn't be delicious.

Incidentally, the harvest season for atemoya is from December to around March.
Because it is difficult to cultivate and rare, only 5 were available on this day.

Don't be disappointed if you can't eat it right now!
In addition to atemoya, we also have seasonal fruits available, so please give them a try!
