A special event, "Katsuren Castle Sky Lantern Evening Festival 2025," will be held at the Katsuren Castle Ruins, a World Heritage Site in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, where fantastical sky lanterns will be released into the night sky. The event will take place on four days in total: November 2nd (Sun), 8th (Sat), 15th (Sat), and 23rd (Sun), 2025. Sky lantern launch tickets will go on sale from October 1st.

The event will feature a special presentation that combines the history of Uruma City with the light of sky lanterns, incorporating local traditional performing arts. Approximately 200 lanterns will rise into the night sky each day, creating a fantastical scene against the backdrop of Katsuren Castle Ruins and the Okinawan night sky. The venue will also have booths and photo spots reminiscent of a traditional Japanese festival, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll in the cool evening air. The lanterns used are LED type, meaning they do not use fire, demonstrating consideration for both the environment and safety. You can write your wishes and messages on the lanterns and release them into the night sky, sending your thoughts and feelings through the light.

On the final day, November 23rd (Sunday), the event will be held in conjunction with the "37th All-Island Lion Dance Festival," which brings together traditional Okinawan performing arts. The magnificent lion dances and the light of lanterns floating in the night sky will blend together to create a special night that can only be experienced here.
