The shop we're introducing today, ISLAND PO-PO-, is a specialty store that offers an evolved version of "po-po," a traditional Okinawan snack, as a stylish sweet treat.

Originally, po-po is a traditional Okinawan confection made by rolling up thin dough made from wheat flour into a stick shape, characterized by its simple flavor and chewy texture. In Okinawa, it is sold in supermarkets and other stores, but it evokes a nostalgic image of a treat that mothers and grandmothers used to make by hand.

That same old pop-pop ice cream has evolved into something delicious and cute, now combined with sweet potato, mango, and other ice creams and whipped cream.

1. ISLAND PO-PO-'s specialty, "Po-Po Ice Cream"

ISLAND PO-PO-'s signature item is the Po-Po Ice Cream (800 yen).
We offer four varieties: Plain Popo & Mango Ice Cream, Purple Sweet Potato Popo & Purple Sweet Potato Ice Cream, Brown Sugar Popo & Vanilla Ice Cream, and Brown Sugar Popo & Matcha Ice Cream.

Among them, the most popular is the Beniimo Po-Po & Beniimo Ice Cream. This dessert lets you enjoy po-po, ice cream, beni-imo paste, beni-imo chips, whipped cream, and flakes all at once.

The subtle flavor of purple sweet potato and the coolness of the ice cream spread in your mouth as soon as you put a Po-Po in, and it's addictive...! The saltiness of the purple sweet potato chips is just right to cleanse your palate after the sweetness, making it easy to eat in no time.

The brown sugar po-po and vanilla ice cream is a reliable choice, offering the classic taste of po-po and the standard flavor of vanilla ice cream. In contrast to the richness of the purple sweet potato po-po and purple sweet potato ice cream, it is characterized by its overall refreshing taste.

Don't miss the "Po-Po Roll (500 yen)," which is just as good as the Po-Po Ice Cream. This simple sweet treat features frozen cream inside a Po-Po, making it easy to enjoy. You can directly experience the chewy texture of the Po-Po.

There are five flavors in total: brown sugar po-po & matcha cream, plain po-po & strawberry cream, brown sugar po-po & fresh cream, purple sweet potato po-po & fresh cream, and plain po-po & chocolate cream.

Since po-po can dry out your mouth, you'll want to order a drink to go with it. ISLAND PO-PO- offers four drink options: drinkable sherbet, locally produced jasmine tea, black coffee, and Orion beer.

The most popular item is the "Sherbet (S size 500 yen, L size 700 yen)," which is popular for its unique system where you can pour it yourself. Try filling your cup to the brim and enjoy it with the other sweets!

2. Interior and seating area

ISLAND PO-PO- stores are characterized by their yellow color scheme. Below the order counter, the logo is displayed against a yellow background, creating an atmosphere that completely dispels the seemingly plain image of PO-PO-.

The terrace seating in front of the ordering counter also features yellow accents on the tables, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere that lifts your spirits just by being there.

The terrace seating offers ocean views, so we recommend ordering some Po-Po sweets and taking a break while enjoying a sweet treat and gazing at the sea.

3. ISLAND PO-PO-Basic information

ISLAND PO-PO- is located slightly to the left of the center when facing Umikaji Terrace. It is on the first floor facing the road, and its store number within Umikaji Terrace is 35.
