I went to OMO5 Okinawa Naha by Hoshino Resorts! A hotel that lets you explore Naha in a fun and stylish way.

OMO5 Okinawa Naha

OMO5 Okinawa Naha by Hoshino Resorts (hereinafter referred to as OMO5 Okinawa Naha) is the fifth facility in Japan under the "OMO" hotel brand developed by Hoshino Resorts.
OMO's brand concept is "an urban sightseeing hotel that elevates your travel experience, not just a place to sleep," and its atmosphere is completely different from the typical image of Hoshino Resorts, such as "luxury resorts" and "luxury hot springs."
Seeing the guest rooms and cafes in person, and participating in an original OMO5 Okinawa Naha tour, really made me appreciate the charm of Naha all over again.

1. OMO Base and OMO Cafe, where your journey begins.

OMO5 Okinawa Naha: Exterior and Entrance
OMO5 Okinawa Naha is located along National Route 58, a 6-minute walk from Kencho-mae Station on the Yui Rail, which is also the entrance to Kokusai Street. Look for the flower-shaped concrete blocks and OMO5 sculptures that are inspired by the "OMO" motif and are commonly seen in the streets of Okinawa.

Stepping through the entrance, you enter "OMO Base."
OMO Base was apparently created to be a place where people gather and interact, serving as a base camp for travelers.
Upon entering the entrance, you'll find the OMO Cafe straight ahead, and to your left, a relaxing space with comfortable sofas.
On the wall at the back of the relaxation area is a "neighborhood map," making it the perfect place to plan your trip to Okinawa.

At first glance, you might wonder where the front desk is, but the check-in counter and the cafe are located on the same counter. It doesn't feel like a hotel in a good way!
The check-in process is also smart, and you complete the procedure using a tablet.

After booking, you scan the QR code that is sent to you, and the process is quick and easy. You get your key card issued, and check-in is complete.

2. OMO Cafe, which also serves as a breakfast venue.

Located directly opposite the check-in counter is the OMO Cafe, with its spacious seating. Open from 7:00 AM to midnight, it offers a variety of seating options, making it a convenient cafe for both solo travelers and groups.
*Please note that business hours may be shortened in accordance with the "Priority Measures for Preventing the Spread of Infection" and the "Request for Shorter Business Hours."
OMO5 Okinawa Naha OMO Cafe Breakfast
From opening until 10:00 AM (last order 9:30 AM), breakfast service is available, and the breakfast-only menu item, "OM Morning Bread," can be enjoyed.

OMOrningBread offers five main menu items: pizza toast, croque monsieur, French toast, bread plate, and salad.

We also have a set plan (¥1,250) which includes one main dish, a light salad, soup, and a drink.

I had the French toast set, and the light cream and sweet and sour sauce soaked into the freshly baked brioche, making it incredibly delicious!

The salad is packed with ingredients, making it a well-balanced meal!
Of course, you can order individual items instead of a set.
The main dishes alone are quite substantial, so please choose according to your appetite and schedule.

After breakfast, it operates as an all-day cafe. In addition to the cafe menu, the hotel sells its original canned goods and ice cream, as well as a selection of locally made specialty products.

The reason there isn't a special dinner menu is because we want people to enjoy the city of Naha as their dining experience.
If you're unsure where to go, check out the neighborhood map on OMO Base.

Below the neighborhood map, you'll find cards featuring shops recommended by our staff. Some of these are local establishments you won't find in guidebooks. You're sure to discover a memorable shop!

3. Guest rooms that will excite even adults.

OMO5 Okinawa Naha Guest Rooms
The guest rooms at OMO5 Okinawa Naha are full of ingenious ideas that make the most of their compact space.
Hangers and towels are stored by cleverly utilizing the uneven surfaces of the wall.

The entrance area, where the living spaces and bathrooms are located, can also be separated using a roll-up curtain.

All rooms are designed for guests to relax in after taking off their shoes. The floors are covered with soft washi tatami mats, and some guests even use them to do yoga or stretching.

There are three room types: double (one bed), twin (two beds), and the unique tower-style room.

The Yagura Room is a unique room type only available at OMO5 Okinawa Naha. It can accommodate up to four people per room.

There is also ample space on the mezzanine level to lay out two sets of futons.

Each room feels like a secret hideout, with accent colors of red, blue, green, and yellow used in the cushions placed in the relaxation areas and the tiles in the shower booths.

4. The rumored amenities

OMO5 Okinawa Naha Amenities
OMO's original amenities are located in the elevator lobby on the first floor.
Pick out only the necessary toothbrushes, razors, combs, etc.
The original loungewear, featuring the OMO logo and made from a fabric with just the right thickness and stretchiness, is available for rent for 200 yen per use.
I'm glad I can choose the size myself.

This "OMO" motif design is found everywhere in the building. Even the card keys have it, for example...

The vending machines also feature the OMO design. In fact, it's even above the lobby...

It's fun to look for "OMO" hidden in unexpected places!
The hotel sells original goods such as handkerchiefs printed with the logo "OMO" and cute masks featuring Shuri Castle, making them perfect souvenirs of your stay.

5. Library for hotel guests only

OMO5 Okinawa Naha Yuntaku Library
On the second floor, overlooking the cafe, is the "Yuntaku Library," exclusively for hotel guests.
The large bookshelf, adorned with handicrafts, features books about Okinawa, categorized by theme and freely accessible to the public. Just browsing the selection on the bookshelf is enough to pique your interest in Okinawa.

The room is furnished with comfortable sofas and desks, and there are plenty of power outlets.

Unlike the open atmosphere of the first floor where people come and go, the Yuntaku Library is an even more tranquil space.
Apparently, some people work remotely from here.

6. Exclusive to hotel guests! Neighborhood Guide OMO Rangers

OMO5 Okinawa Naha Neighborhood Guide OMO Rangers
The most interesting part of this event was the neighborhood guide, the OMO Ranger. If you're even slightly interested, you should definitely give it a try.
The OMO Ranger neighborhood guide is a service where hotel staff act as guides, showing you around Naha within walking distance of the hotel.
The content is quite deep and interesting.
I participated in two activities: "Supermarket Ranger" and "Strolling Through the Backstreets of Kokusai Street."
"Supermarket Ranger" is a program where you tour local supermarkets with a guide, carrying a shopping basket. The participation fee is ¥1,000 per person.
The tour starts a little early, at 8:45 AM, but apparently, this time is set so that the shops are relatively empty and you can buy souvenirs before checking out.

Sometimes we use panels to unravel common Okinawan quirks. You'll discover lots of new things at points you might easily miss without a guide! You won't understand how fun it is unless you participate.

Tour participants also receive an original tote bag! So you can buy as many souvenirs as you like.

The "Backstreet International Street Walk" is full of discoveries. Participation is free!
OMO5 Okinawa Naha Neighborhood Guide OMO Rangers
I've been to Kokusai Street countless times, but even so, half of this route is new to me!
The OMO Rangers act as the vanguard, visiting shops that you wouldn't normally encounter while sightseeing.

Tours require reservations by the day before (same-day reservations are also possible if there are openings), and since they are small group tours, you can relax and enjoy yourself.
Participation fees vary depending on the tour, but there are also free tours, so if you're staying at OMO5 Okinawa Naha, checking them out is a must.
They're also planning bus tours in the future.

7. Conclusion

OMO5 Okinawa Naha
This is one of the five Shisa statues at the OMO base. Can you see the star hidden within?
