On November 10, 2025, the "Lime Rakumo" electric seat board service, which allows passengers to sit and ride, launched on Ishigaki Island. Lime Rakumo is a next-generation mobility service that can be booked and ridden through a dedicated app. Currently, there are ports set up in approximately 30 locations on the island, including the Euglena Remote Island Terminal and Yuratik Market. Following the deployment in 16 wards of Tokyo, Yokohama City, and Naha City, Ishigaki Island will be the first to receive the service, utilizing vehicles that were used at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which closed in October 2025.

Reusing vehicles from the Osaka-Kansai Expo

Lime Rakumo is a sharing service that allows users to reserve electric micromobility vehicles located at ports (parking areas) throughout the city using a dedicated app, ride them, and return them to a port near their destination.
The maximum speed is 20 km/h in normal mode and 6 km/h in walking mode. In normal mode, you can easily move around at a speed comparable to briskly pedaling a bicycle.
The seated scooters being deployed to Ishigaki Island are the same type of vehicles used at the Osaka-Kansai World Expo. Designed with seats and baskets, they offer greater stability compared to kick scooters, and the seated riding position makes them less tiring.
You can ride after completing the safety education program within the app and answering all questions correctly on the pre-test. There is also a "Helmet Selfie" feature that offers a discount if you wear a helmet.

Safety training will also be conducted.

Prior to the service launch, a safety test ride event was held at the "Ishigaki Island Festival" on November 1st and 2nd. Attendees were able to experience riding the Lime Rakumo firsthand and learn about traffic rules and safe riding practices.

Convenient modes of transportation for sightseeing

With the increase in tourists on Ishigaki Island, it is often difficult to book a taxi. Lime Rakumo operates a fleet of vehicles on the island that is almost the same size as taxis, making travel between tourist spots and from accommodations to destinations more convenient. It is especially convenient for those who have difficulty driving or for short-distance travel, and is perfect for sightseeing.

You can also earn JAL miles.
