This area, which is gaining popularity for its exotic and resort-like atmosphere, has recently seen an increase in stylish and sophisticated cafes!
This time, I'll introduce three of my top picks, all located along the coast.

1.ZHYVAGO COFFEE WORKS OKINAWA

ZHYVAGO COFFEE WORKS OKINAWA is a coffee stand located on the first floor of the "Distortion Seaside Building" on the waterfront in American Village.

The restaurant is right by the sea. You can enjoy the Okinawan ocean from the open-air seating area.
Enjoying coffee while gazing at the beautiful ocean is something you can only experience in Okinawa.

In the summer, cool down with an ice-cold iced coffee or a milkshake piled high with cream, and in the fall and winter, take a moment to relax with a designer cappuccino.

The store also sells baked goods and other sweets, as well as original merchandise.

We recommend the original coffee base (concentrated liquid).
Simply mix the coffee base with milk to easily recreate the taste of Zhivago at home!
The taste of Zhivago brings back memories of my trip to Okinawa.

2.BALL DONUT PARK Sunabe store

BALL DONUT PARK is a cute shop selling perfectly round donuts, located along Miyagi Coast, about a 5-minute drive from American Village.

These donuts are fried fresh to order, so they're served piping hot and wonderfully crispy.
Furthermore, the donut mix used to make the donuts is also a unique blend, resulting in a new texture that's not just crispy, but also wonderfully chewy.

They offer both dine-in and takeout options, making it perfect for enjoying while traveling in your car or right by the sea.

The picture shows Lemon Sugar (small size) for 400 yen. It might be a little hard to see, but it's a dish where half a lemon is generously squeezed into it. The sweet and sour taste is irresistible!

They also have a wide variety of other flavors, such as salt and butter and chocolate balls, so order several and compare them!

The shop has a stylish atmosphere with a wood-based interior, and because of its location, there are many foreign customers, giving it an exotic feel. Incidentally, there is also the "Naha Main Store" of the same shop near Kokusai Street in Naha, where they sell their original "donut mix powder," which makes a perfect souvenir.

3. Timeless Chocolate

Located on the second floor of the same building as Zhivago Coffee Works Okinawa is Timeless Chocolate, the first chocolate shop in Okinawa to implement the "Bean to Bar" method.

"Bean to Bar" refers to a style of chocolate making where the entire process, from sourcing the cocoa beans used as raw material to roasting, packaging, and selling, is handled in-house.
Here, the owner uses only carefully selected cacao beans sourced from around the world and Okinawan sugarcane as ingredients to create simple, pure chocolate.

The sweets that accompany the chocolate are also popular, with fans frequently visiting for tiramisu, chocolate cake, and, in winter, hot chocolate. All the sweets are made in-house by a dedicated pastry chef, and customers can even peek into the glass-walled kitchen from their seats. This openness to the production process shows absolute confidence in the ingredients.

4. Conclusion

The Chatan area used to have the impression of being a "typical tourist spot" centered around American Village, but recently it has transformed into an area where you can enjoy cafe hopping with the increase in stylish shops. Nevertheless, it is still a place where you can feel the American atmosphere with many foreigners, and in Okinawa, which already has a foreign feel to it, time flows even more so that you can forget you are in Japan.

It would be nice to take a short coffee break in Chatan while listening to the sound of the ocean.
