"Free Space Cafe Koya" is a cafe located along a quiet little path in the peaceful residential area of Yomitan Village.
The shop is a renovated old house that was scheduled to be demolished.
The interior is striking with its emerald blue walls, reminiscent of the concentrated Okinawan sea, but the exposed pillars and electrical wiring, with the ceiling panels removed, remain as they were in the past, creating a unique interior that mixes new and retro elements.
The menu is based on vegan cuisine and features carefully selected items such as homemade lemonade and a special coffee that can only be found here in Okinawa.
This article will provide a detailed introduction to "free space cafe Koya," a wonderful renovated traditional Japanese house cafe that I highly recommend visiting.

1. I can't believe there's a cafe in a place like this! Walking through a residential area in Yomitan Village.

Turn off National Route 58 at the Kina intersection, and after a short three-minute drive through the laid-back residential area of Yomitan Village, you'll find Free Space Cafe Koya. The exterior, a renovated old Okinawan house, features Shisa statues, a red tiled roof, and a papaya tree, giving the building itself an authentic Okinawan feel. Upon opening the entrance door, you're greeted by the pleasant sound of bells.

The interior of the shop, with its ceiling panels removed, feels spacious and filled with natural light streaming in through the windows.
The vibrant blue walls and the warmth of the brown wood create a very cozy atmosphere.

The seating includes sofa seats and counter seats, making it suitable for various situations, whether you're in a group or dining alone.
I encourage you to find your own favorite spot and enjoy some relaxing time at a cafe.
2. Dishes from Free Space Cafe Koya
The cafe menu includes specialty coffees, homemade lemonade, daily soups, paninis, and vegan options (dishes that do not use animal products).
From our extensive menu, we'll be introducing "Soy Milk Dan Dan Noodles," "Panini," and "Raw Sweet Cake" today.

First, I'll try the vegan option: soy milk tantanmen noodles.
Dan Dan noodles are a perfect match of chewy noodles and spicy miso sauce.
The noodles are quite substantial, so you're sure to leave feeling full.
The small bowl of bean sprout namul is a simple yet delicious dish with a hint of sesame oil.

Next up, panini is a warm sandwich that originated in Italy.
It's overflowing with ingredients, and the delicious flavor fills your mouth.

When you order a panini, you can have it served on a plate of your choice.
There are so many cute plates on display, I can't decide which one to choose!

The raw sweets (cakes made without animal products, wheat flour, or refined sugar) had a deep sweetness that spread in my mouth, and they paired perfectly with coffee.
