1. Enjoy the waiting time too! This is the famous ocean view.
A cottage-style building surrounded by greenery. This is the entrance to "Cafe Kurukuma".
This atmosphere, surrounded by greenery, is incredibly soothing in itself...
You can enjoy this spectacular view from the window seats inside the restaurant.
Stepping out onto the terrace, you're greeted by a breathtaking view of the ocean!
The terrace seating, available only at the dessert cafe, is a popular spot for those who want to enjoy tea while overlooking the sea during a quieter time after lunch.
Cafe Kurukuma has a garden on its premises, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view, so you can take pictures and enjoy yourself while you wait.
The garden is spacious and perfect for a stroll.
Is that a Shisa (Okinawan guardian lion)?
There are some unusual objects hidden here and there, so please try to find them.
2. Popular dishes all on one plate! This is what you should eat.
After enjoying the view inside the restaurant, we immediately ordered our food.
The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including their signature curry, pad thai (Thai-style fried noodles), tom yum goong, pineapple fried rice, and more.
Among them, the three most popular are the Kurukuma Special, Green Curry, and Gai Yang (Thai-style grilled chicken).
They all look delicious,
This time, I decided to order the Kurukuma Special, which is the most popular item.
The Kurukuma Special is a generous set that includes three types of curry (beef, pork, and chicken), the popular third-ranked Gai Yang (Thai-style grilled chicken), dessert, and salad.
While waiting for the food, I took a stroll around the restaurant.
The window seats offer a view of the sea, creating a sense of openness.
There's even a large space that can accommodate groups.
The most popular seats are the window seats overlooking the sea.
Even on weekdays, the restaurant fills up very quickly during lunchtime.
Window seats can be reserved only between 10:00 and 12:00.
If you want to secure a seat, it seems that making a reservation is a must.
While we were waiting, the food arrived.
This is the Kurukuma Special!
This volume costs 1,570 yen including tax.
You can also share one plate.
The curry is topped with cilantro.
If you like cilantro, you can order extra.
The curries are available in different levels of spiciness.
The chicken curry is mild, the beef curry is medium spicy, and the pork curry is spicy.
The ingredients are large, and there's plenty of meat and vegetables, making it incredibly satisfying.
The spiciness is balanced by the sweetness of the vegetables, making it a relatively easy-to-eat dish despite its spiciness.
The curry alone is very satisfying, but what I would especially recommend from the Kurukuma Special is the gai yang (grilled chicken) served alongside the rice.
The skin is crispy, and the meat is thoroughly seasoned and absolutely delicious!
When I asked the staff, they told me that the turmeric and herbs grown on the farm located on the premises of "Cafe Kurukuma" are used to marinate the turmeric in a secret sauce, making it a flavor you can only taste here.
For dessert after enjoying the main course, the Kurukuma Zenzai, made with coconut milk, provides a perfectly balanced sweetness to conclude the meal.
If you want to try a variety of dishes, why not order the Kurukuma Special?
3. How to get to Cafe Kurukuma
The nearest bus stop to "Cafe Kurukuma" is called "Chinen," but it's quite a distance from there, so we recommend going by car.
You can get to "Cafe Kurukuma" from the airport using navigation, but there are two routes: one that goes via the southernmost part (counterclockwise) and another that goes almost in a straight line.
If you're going in a nearly straight line, you can take the main road and arrive smoothly. However, if you're going counterclockwise, you'll have to go through the narrow, sloping road shown in the picture, so be careful not to get lost.
By the way, before you enter the slope, you'll see a sign like the one in the picture, so if you follow the arrow, you'll arrive smoothly.

4. Conclusion
"Cafe Kurukuma" is located on a site called Kurukuma no Mori, which includes a farm where the vegetables and herbs used in the cafe are grown.
In addition to dining, there are plenty of other things to see and do, such as the Kurukuma Shop, which sells vegetables from local farmers.
Furthermore, just an 8-minute drive from Kurukuma no Mori is Seifa Utaki, and just a 1-minute drive away are other tourist attractions such as the Chinen Castle Ruins!
If you're visiting the South as a tourist, why not include this in your itinerary?
