Okinawa Proposal Ceremony: "Ring Box Opening" x Preserved Flowers | A Special Plan to Capture That Touching Moment

How far have you planned the proposal in Okinawa?

Many people considering proposing in Okinawa are probably thinking about things like, "What kind of setting should we create?" and "How can we plan the surprise?" The blue sea, the setting sun, the tropical breeze—Okinawa itself provides a special setting.

However, what we've noticed from helping with countless proposals is that surprisingly few people consider not only the "moment" of the proposal itself, but also what happens "afterward." A proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so having something to look back on later, in addition to the emotional impact of the moment, makes that day even more meaningful.

What is the "box opening ring" effect?

A surprise box reveals a ring.

The "Box-Opening Ring" is a ring that appears to float up inside a box that looks like an ordinary gift box when opened. The dramatic emotional shifts from the surprised "What is this?" expression on the partner's face when they open the box, to tears and smiles when they notice the ring, are beautifully portrayed.

For those who struggle with finding the right timing to propose verbally, this method helps to bridge the gaps in the conversation, making it easier to proceed even when nervous, and we've received many positive comments about this. As an example of a case we've actually helped with, we 've also included a detailed explanation of the flow of the day in our article on bouquet and box proposals , so please take a look if you'd like to get a concrete idea.

The special feeling that comes from being set in Okinawa

Performing this scene in a location like an Okinawan beach or sunset spot greatly enhances the visual impact. The sound of the waves, the sea breeze, the sky painted in crimson hues—the charm lies in being in a place away from everyday life, allowing you to focus on your time together.

For those who want a unique location, the scenery of remote islands is also popular. For example, a proposal in the sunflower fields of Kurima Island , with a backdrop of sunflowers in full bloom, is a popular choice, and we receive many inquiries from people who are struggling to find a suitable place to propose.

Of course, the location is just one element that enhances the performance. What we truly want to cherish is ensuring that the emotions created on this special stage are not just a one-time thing.

What will you leave behind "after" the proposal?

Things that cannot be preserved through photos and videos alone

Many people take photos and videos to record their marriage proposal. Of course, these are important records. However, we often hear that people don't look back at these videos or videos very often in their daily lives.

This is why we combine preserved flowers with this ring box proposal plan. Instead of letting the bouquet you gave her at the moment of your proposal wither away, we process it to create a keepsake that will remain beautiful for a long time.

Preserved flowers as a memento

Preserved flowers displayed in a room quietly evoke memories of that day whenever you catch a glimpse of them in your daily life. As birthdays and wedding anniversaries approach, they can become a conversation starter, prompting you to reminisce about "how things were back then." Unlike photos or videos, they remain as a tangible "object" in your possession, naturally blending into your daily life while continuing to serve as a symbol of that special day.

What are preserved flowers?

Differences from fresh flowers and why they can be enjoyed for a long time

Preserved flowers are flowers that have been processed by removing the moisture from fresh flowers and replacing it with a special preservation solution. They retain the fresh texture and colors of fresh flowers, and can be displayed for a long period of time without the need for watering.

Of course, the color and shape won't stay the same forever, but a major feature is that you can enjoy them for years or more if you display them away from direct sunlight and high temperatures and humidity.

Because a bouquet of flowers is meant for such a special day as a marriage proposal, we want it to be something you can cherish for as long as possible, rather than just something that's beautiful for a fleeting moment. With that in mind, Proposal Lab offers this special set plan.

The meaning of decorating with flowers as a "symbol of the anniversary"

Being able to preserve a bouquet in its original form means that it has value beyond mere interior decoration; it becomes a tangible reminder of the day when the proposal took place right here. The ability to keep it as a symbol of a promise made in the special place of Okinawa, and to leave its presence in everyday life, is at the heart of the value we aim to offer.

About the Okinawa x Box-Opening Ring x Preserved Flower Set Plan

Proposal Lab's package plan combines a ring-opening ceremony in the special location of Okinawa with the creation of preserved flowers that can be cherished long after the proposal. It is chosen by those who want to cherish both the emotional moment of the proposal and the value of the keepsake that follows.

We can discuss your specific requests regarding the surprise's content, potential locations, the colors and arrangements of preserved flowers, and more. We will also provide thorough support for the day's proceedings and pre-event preparations.

FAQ

While it varies depending on the location and content, most cases require about half a day, including preparation and the execution of the surprise. We will provide you with detailed information when you contact us.

Even if you are planning an outdoor location, we can suggest alternative locations or indoor production plans, so please consult with us in advance.

A marriage proposal in Okinawa | The moment of "opening the box," against the backdrop of the Okinawan sunset. A once-in-a-lifetime proposal story.

Why propose in Okinawa? — Gently supporting her "dream"

There is a longing she has kept hidden deep in her heart all this time.

It's a little story I've kept to myself, a dream of being proposed to like this someday. A special view, a special moment, and a special signal.

Okinawa has the power to turn stories into reality. The emerald green sea slowly turns orange in the evening. The wind carrying the scent of the sea caresses your cheeks, and only the sound of waves fills the gaps in your conversation. Just standing in such a scene, you can tell without words that "today is a special day"—that is the quiet persuasive power of Okinawa as a stage.

What's important isn't luxury. It's creating a time and atmosphere where she can feel truly cherished. The sea and sunsets of Okinawa are the most eloquent performers in creating that atmosphere.

From Okinawa Island to the outlying islands, the color of the sea and the angle of the light change with the seasons. Okinawa is a land with its own unique climate and scenery throughout the year, and even in the same place, you can encounter completely different, once-in-a-lifetime views depending on the season and time of day you visit.

Best season and time of day for a marriage proposal in Okinawa

It's no exaggeration to say that more than half of the success of a marriage proposal depends on "choosing the right timing."

The best times to visit Okinawa are April-June and October-November. The sun isn't as strong as in mid-summer, and the humidity is relatively low, so outdoor events won't put too much strain on your girlfriend. Additionally, there are fewer typhoons during these times, making it easier to execute outdoor surprises as planned.

Ideally, you should arrive at the location 30 to 40 minutes before sunset. The brief period just before the sun completely sets, known as the "magic hour," when the sky changes from crimson to purple, creates the perfect light for the moment when the camera box opens. Since sunset times vary greatly depending on the season, it is recommended to check the sunset time in advance and plan your schedule accordingly.

Why a "box-opening proposal" is a dream for many women

There's a scene that many women imagine when they think of a marriage proposal: the moment he quietly takes a small box from his pocket or bag, gets down on one knee, and pops open the lid.

This is not merely a "ritual." It is the very "ideal scenario" that they have repeatedly seen in movies, dramas, and on social media over the years. That's why, when that moment arrives in their own lives, women feel both emotion and a great sense of relief. It's a feeling of confirmation somewhere in their hearts, as if they've been told, "I am truly cherished," and "This is a real moment."

The moment the ring box opens, light streams in, and the ring sparkles. In those few seconds, all the time the two have spent together so far, and the time they will spend together in the future, is condensed. That's why women yearn so strongly for that "form." It's not merely a formality, but a moment when emotions are expressed in their purest form.

For men, this might seem like an awkward gesture. But this moment will become a memory she will never forget.

Recommended Locations and Scenes

A seaside terrace where you can have the horizon all to yourself.

At hotels where the sea stretches out from the private terraces of guest rooms and restaurants, you can create time for just the two of you, undisturbed by anyone. Set the table at dusk, sip your drinks, and naturally take out the box—you don't need to rent a special venue; a corner of the hotel where you are staying becomes your own special spot.

A beachfront lounge where the sunset takes center stage.

Many resort hotels on the west coast have beachside lounges or decks where you can enjoy panoramic views of the sunset over the horizon. The few minutes when the sky is painted in a gradient of colors are truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment. If you time it right before the sun completely sets, you can capture a dramatic photo of the two of you enveloped in light and shadow.

A secluded cove on a remote island, where you can express your feelings in the stillness.

Miyako Island and the surrounding outlying islands are dotted with quiet coves and beaches that are not frequented by tourists. In places where nothing can be heard except the sound of the waves, honest words come out, even if one feels nervous. It is in the unadorned embrace of nature that feelings can be conveyed directly.

Furthermore, small islands like Kurima Island, which can be reached from Miyako Island by a single bridge, offer unspoiled, breathtaking scenery where the local way of life remains intact. If you are actually considering proposing on Kurima Island, please also refer to articles about Kurima Island proposals .

A "Box Opening Ring x Flower Bouquet Set" to fulfill your dreams.

Once the stage is set in Okinawa, all that's left is to add a few small touches to make that moment special.

At Proposal Lab , we offer a "Proposal Bouquet x Proposal Ring" set that allows you to fulfill your dream of the "proposal bouquet opening" ceremony.

  • Proposal bouquet + box opening ring: from 50,000 yen
  • Bouquet of 12 roses + box opening: From 66,000 yen (12 roses symbolize eternal love)

The moment the ring and bouquet are presented simultaneously embodies her dreams. It's not an expensive purchase, but rather an investment in the "first page" of the story the two of you will walk together.

The Box-Opening Ring is a case designed so that the ring appears to float up the moment the lid is opened, allowing you to recreate the dream scenario you've seen on social media and in videos. When combined with a bouquet of flowers, it creates both visual splendor and a sense of surprise, making it a moment that will remain vividly in her memory. For more details about the product and the actual design, please consult a proposal advisor!

A "proposal advisor" to provide peace of mind.

"I wonder if I'm even capable of pulling off a surprise like that."

Many men feel anxious about this. Planning, timing, coordinating her schedule, creating the right atmosphere on the day—there's surprisingly a lot to consider.

That's why we offer support from a proposal advisor, who will accompany you from the planning stage to the execution of the day itself. From choosing the location and devising the surprise to making sure your girlfriend doesn't notice, we have a system in place that allows even those unfamiliar with planning a proposal to feel at ease. What's important is not hiding your inexperience, but the determination to create the "perfect moment," even if it means enlisting the help of a professional.

Proposal Lab 's proposal advisors are professionals certified by the Proposal Advisor Association ( PAA ) and the Okinawa Resort Wedding Association ( ORWA ), and they are intimately familiar with Okinawa's hotel situation, local climate, and how to handle any problems that may arise on the day of the wedding. Proposal Lab's ability to provide end-to-end support, from travel arrangements to on-site planning, is a unique strength of Proposal Lab , which also operates as a travel agency.

FAQ

Q. Will she absolutely not find out about the surprise?

If you wish to keep your plans completely secret, we can present the purpose of the trip as a different reason (such as an anniversary trip or birthday trip). We will also coordinate the itinerary and the handover of props in advance to ensure that she does not notice, so please rest assured.

Q. Is it okay if it's my first time in Okinawa?

Don't worry! Proposal Lab can support you with everything from location selection to flight and accommodation arrangements, so you can feel at ease even if you're unfamiliar with the area.

Q. Is it possible to purchase only the product?

You can also order just the box-opening and bouquet set. If you don't require any support for the presentation, we are happy to discuss purchasing the product individually.

A marriage proposal on Kurima Island | A special moment just for the two of you, amidst a field of sunflowers.

Kurima Island Sunflower Project

Surrounded by lots of sunflowers, "Let's get married."

Please try to imagine.

As far as the eye can see, it's a sea of yellow. Thousands of sunflowers are blooming, facing straight up to the sky. And in the middle of them, someone special quietly turns around— The blue sky, the flowers of the sun, and a moment just for the two of you.

A marriage proposal on Kurima Island can turn that picture-book-like scene into reality.

Just a few minutes' drive across the Kurima Bridge from Miyako Island, this small island with a population of only about 200 people is currently attracting many couples looking for a place to propose. And one of the reasons is the sunflower fields that bloom all over the island.

Why are the sunflowers of Kurima Island the perfect setting for a marriage proposal?

Actually, you can see sunflower fields all over Miyako Island. However, when considering it as the setting for a marriage proposal, the sunflowers of Kurima Island have a decisive advantage that no other place offers.

① Sunflowers that are "guaranteed to appear and disappear" rather than "elusive"

Many of the sunflowers you'll see on Miyako Island are planted as "green manure" to enrich the soil in sugarcane fields; they are, in a sense, "sunflowers for agriculture." The timing and location of their blooming vary from farmer to farmer, and they are said to be "unpredictable sunflower fields" that appear anywhere at any time.

In other words, for the average tourist, it's something like, "You won't know if they're in bloom until you go there."

But think about it. You definitely want to avoid saying, "They weren't in bloom this year," when it's a once-in-a-lifetime marriage proposal, right?

In that respect, Kurima Island is different. On Kurima Island, the sunflower fields are carefully maintained every year through the community-wide "Sunflower Project." That's why, for those who want to be sure to see sunflowers, Kurima Island is the most reliable place in the Miyako area. You can make plans and look forward to the day with peace of mind. This is the kind of certainty that is worthy of entrusting such an important moment in your life to.

② The sunflower field itself is "a story of nurturing the island's future."

The sunflowers on Kurima Island are not just beautiful; each and every one of them is nurtured by the islanders, becoming an integral part of the activities that support the island's nature and future.

The flower field where the two exchange vows of love is actually nurturing the island's future. When you consider this, another deeper meaning is added to the moment of the proposal. "The couple's new beginning" and "the island's continuing activities" meet in the same place. A proposal on Kurima Island is imbued with such a quiet narrative.

③ A quiet place just for the two of you, untouched by tourism.

One thing many people worry about when proposing is "being seen by others." In such a tense situation, if there are many tourists around, it can be difficult to find the right words.

Kurima Island is a quiet island, far removed from the hustle and bustle of famous tourist beaches. It's easy to create peaceful time for just the two of you, even in a sunflower field. That's why you can truly focus on "those words."

Access to Kurima Island

Kurima Island is a small island located southwest of Miyako Island, with a circumference of approximately 9 km. It is directly connected to Miyako Island by the Kurima Bridge, which is approximately 1,690 m long.

It's about a 15-minute drive from Miyako Airport, making it easy to combine with sightseeing on Miyako Island. The stunning "Miyako Blue" gradient viewed from the bridge is breathtaking, creating a special feeling even before you arrive on the island.

Incidentally, the island also has other scenic spots besides the sunflower fields, such as a hilltop overlooking the Kurima Bridge and Nagama Beach, known for its beautiful sunsets.

Kurima Island Sunflower Proposal Season - Best Season

The sunflowers on Kurima Island are a little different from the image of "summer flowers" that are common on the main island of Japan.

Generally, sunflowers in the Miyako area are planted after the sugarcane harvest is finished around January to March, and tend to be in full bloom from late February to June. The best time to visit is March and April! While it's still a bit chilly on the main island of Japan, you can see the "flowers of the sun" a little earlier on Kurima Island.

However, this is where it gets important.

"The best time to see the flowers" and "the perfect day for a marriage proposal" are not actually the same thing. Even within the same peak blooming period, the impression of a photograph will be completely different depending on whether there are many buds or if the flowers are in full bloom. Furthermore, the weather of that year, the light in the morning and evening, the strength of the wind, and "which section is blooming most beautifully"—this is information that you can only get by staying connected to the site on a daily basis.

Because the sunflowers on Kurima Island are so well-maintained, you can go beyond simply "visiting when they're in bloom" and design your trip to "experience the most beautiful moment in the most beautiful place." And that's something that guidebooks and articles like this can't fully capture.

🌻 Advice from a marriage proposal advisor
Sunflowers look completely different in the morning and evening. Sunflowers that bloom in the soft morning light look their most beautiful, both in photographs and in our eyes. Choosing the right time for a proposal is actually a crucial key to success. The ability to design everything from "when, where, and with what kind of light" is the strength of a producer who knows the local area inside and out.

You don't have to bear the burden of a marriage proposal alone.

In fact, one survey revealed that about 7% of men said they don't consult anyone about proposing. They prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime event all by themselves, feeling their way through it by trial and error.

When you think about it, it might seem strange. When we get divorced, we consult a lawyer and pay for their professional help. Yet, for some reason, we tend to bear the burden of the proposal, the beginning of marriage, all by ourselves.

But when it comes to a marriage proposal, you really want someone to be there for you.

What we, as proposal advisors, offer is not a field of sunflowers or a ring itself. We are a team dedicated to ensuring the success of your proposal. From determining the best timing, designing a setting that suits your partner's personality, coordinating with the venue, planning the day's arrangements, and even providing emotional support for you during this nerve-wracking time, a proposal advisor will be by your side, strategizing together.

To be honest, if you were to arrange the sunflower field, the ring, and the photoshoot individually, there might be cheaper ways to do so. However, what brings all of these together into a "successful proposal" isn't information or planning, but the presence of a team that cares about you and supports you every step of the way. That's what we truly want to deliver.

Adding special touches to your sunflower field proposal

A field of sunflowers is romantic enough on its own, but with a little ingenuity, it can become a moment you'll never forget.

A bouquet of sunflowers. Prepare a bouquet of sunflowers to complement the surrounding sunflower field. A proposal surrounded by yellow will be especially moving when captured in photographs.

Of course, you should include a ring. Various surveys consistently show that the number one gift women are happiest to receive in a marriage proposal is a ring. A ring presented in a sunflower field becomes the star of the show in the perfect setting.

Capture that moment with a professional camera. From nervous expressions to surprise and tearful smiles, a professional photographer will subtly preserve that series of moments that you two can never capture again. A photo taken against the backdrop of a sunflower field will become a treasure for a lifetime.

Combine it with a sunset or the ocean. Besides the sunflower fields, Kurima Island is dotted with scenic spots offering stunning views of the sunset at Nagama Beach and the Kurima Bridge. You can even create a romantic story of a day where you propose in a sunflower field and then raise a toast on the beach at sunset.

🌻 Advice from a marriage proposal advisor
The sunflower fields on Kurima Island are a place that the local people cherish and cultivate. Because we have close ties with the islanders, we can respectfully manage the fields and create a safe and beautiful setting for your photoshoot. Instead of just "going there and taking pictures," being welcomed to the island and proposing there—that difference will surely change the quality of a lifelong memory.

To change "I don't know if they're blooming" to "I'm sure they are"

If you've read this far, I'm sure you're seriously considering proposing on Kurima Island.

That's why I want to tell you something. A sunflower proposal on Kurima Island will turn out completely differently depending on whether you know "when they bloom," "where they are most beautiful," and "what time and light to be in." And it would be a real shame to have to plan such a special day all by yourself while feeling nervous.

We are proposal advisors who know Miyako Island and Kurima Island inside and out. From suggesting dates that coincide with the sunflower season, to arranging bouquets and rings, photography, planning the flow of events on the day, and coordinating with locals, our team will prepare every aspect of the setting so that you can relax and focus solely on "those words."

Say "yes" for that once-in-a-lifetime moment amidst a field of sunflowers. Why not create a special moment just for the two of you on Kurima Island? Start by simply contacting us for a consultation. Our team is here to help make your proposal a success.

No swimming skills required! We offer reliable support.

Lilo Miyakojima's sea turtle snorkeling tour is designed to be enjoyable and safe even for children who are not strong swimmers.
During the tour, a dedicated guide residing in Miyako Island will provide support tailored to the pace of all participants.
First, there's a "lecture before entering the sea," and while getting used to the water, you'll go to see sea turtles in the ocean at a comfortable pace.

Especially for families with children, life rings and life jackets are provided, so you can float in the sea with peace of mind.
Since the guide goes into the water with them, children can go see sea turtles without being scared.

A special moment to encounter a sea turtle

Sea turtles are not just animals; they are mysterious and beautiful beings.
For children, seeing a sea turtle up close is a special sight that they don't often get to see.
At that moment, the child will likely show expressions of surprise and awe, exclaiming, "It's so big!" and "Sea turtles swim so gracefully!"

During snorkeling, the guide will take photos and videos, so you can capture those amazing moments in a lasting record.
Even after returning home, I can relive the moment I encountered that sea turtle over and over again.

For your child, we want to provide a more reassuring service.

Lilo Miyakojima offers a wealth of services to help parents with children enjoy their visit with even greater peace of mind.
We have staff members with childcare experience, so they can provide attentive care to young children.
Even in the ocean, children can float safely using life rings and life jackets, allowing parents to enjoy themselves with peace of mind.

[be family] Monitor Report! Here's what happened on the day!

A special moment for two families to forge new family bonds during a resort wedding in Okinawa. ❝be family❞

Here is the report from the monitor group that conducted the trial on January 27, 2025!

Monitor Report

This time, Ms. N participated. She attended with the bride's parents!

Unfortunately, the weather was bad on the day and the harley race could not be held, but participants were able to experience yoga and karate programs indoors.

◆ Yoga session

First, try imitating the instructor's poses and doing stretches to lengthen your body.

Relax and feel your body stretching.

After that, we tried partner yoga! We worked together to complete the poses.

This requires a high level of physical flexibility, which significantly increases the difficulty level.

Being able to strike a pose brings a sense of joy and unity!

Once you've gotten comfortable with partner yoga, try challenging yourself with even more difficult poses!

The N family can handle all of it, as expected!!

Finally, take a commemorative photo with the instructor!
Thank you everyone for your hard work!

◆Karate practice

Next, we tried Ryukyu karate. We changed into our gis and got started!

First, we receive instructions from the instructor and then assume karate poses.

You will hone your skills while experiencing practical movements.

In karate, "kata" (forms) are an important element for learning basic techniques, so we strive to master them.

Originally, the karate session was held on the beach, but due to strong winds, it was moved indoors this time.

But since we're here, let's take our final commemorative photo on the beach!!

Thank you very much!

Luncheon social gathering

After the program ends, enjoy a luncheon and get-together while taking in the Okinawan scenery!

I enjoyed a lunch featuring local ingredients at ILE DE RÉ, owned and run by Hiroyuki Sakai, famous as an "Iron Chef."

Enjoy a meal while admiring the beautiful scenery of Okinawa, reflect on your experiences, and share your thoughts and impressions.

After the meal, the facilitator conducted interviews to gather opinions and feedback on the program.

Additionally, a "Family Bonding Certificate" will be presented using a photo taken after the program ends!

I'll finish it by adding a message and my signature.

Finally, say pose for a commemorative photo!

Thank you for participating!!

I hope this experience will deepen your family bonds, and that you will all come to Okinawa again someday.
