1. Yuinichi Street has lots of interesting shops.

Yuinichi Street Top Main EntranceYuinichi Street is a passageway connecting the domestic terminal and the new international terminal at Naha Airport.

On either side of it are shops offering premium Okinawan items and "Japanese souvenirs" that are likely to appeal to tourists visiting Japan.

This shop offers a selection of unique souvenirs that you wouldn't normally find in the souvenir shops at Naha Airport, making it especially appealing to repeat visitors to Okinawa.

Let's take a look at some of the shops that caught our eye!

2. Dear Okinawa

Yuinichi Street Dear Okinawa Store Exterior"Dear Okinawa" is a shop that sells Yachimun pottery, Shisa statues, accessories, bags, and other items by popular Okinawan artists.

Even the Yachimun pottery and Shisa lion statues that you often see in souvenir shops at domestic terminals are distinctly different when selected here.

Let me introduce some items that I've been using for a while and have been interested in.

The shop offers an attractive lineup of items that, even though it's near the end of my Okinawa trip, are still stirring up my desire to buy things, which is quite perplexing. These include Yachimun pottery with border designs by Mika Higashionna, Bingata fans and island indigo tote bags by Katakichi, and chocolates from Timeless Chocolate.

Yuinichi Street, Mika Higashionna, Border YachimunThis is Yachimun pottery by Mika Higashionna.

The rough texture feels nice, and the design and colors are very feminine and cute, but it's so popular that it's hard to find, both within and outside the prefecture...

It seems to be popular at "Dear Okinawa" as well, so checking the store's social media for stock information or calling ahead to confirm will likely increase your chances of getting it.

3. Nippon Department Store Okinawa

Yuinichi Street, Japan Department Store exterior"Nippon Hyakkaten Okinawa" offers a wide selection of delicious items that are distinctly Okinawan, with elaborate packaging designs and offerings that go beyond the typical, standard Okinawan souvenirs.

Beyond Okinawan souvenirs, this shop offers over 1200 attractive items, including stylish and carefully selected food products and miscellaneous goods from all over Japan. You'll find yourself picking up things that have nothing to do with Okinawa.

The "Yukishio Parin" wafers I bought here were well-received, with people saying they were both cute in packaging and delicious!

4. HABUBOX

Yuinichi Street Karabisa Socks Arthur Mix & Island Banana YellowHABUBOX, which has stores in places like Mihama American Village, will also be opening a shop on Yuinichi Street.

They sell comedic T-shirts and other goods, making it a great place to buy slightly extravagant souvenirs.

HABUBOX's favorite item is "Karabisa Socks." I'm truly impressed by the naming sense.

The green ones are called "Arthur Mix," the yellow ones are "Island Banana Yellow," and there are many other socks with names that will make you chuckle, such as "Whale Shark Drum Meadow," "Red Tile Fluffy," and "Sukugarasu Tofu White." You'll inevitably end up buying them not just for the packaging, but for the name!

A look at someone wearing Yuinichi Street Karabisa socks.By the way, this is what they look like when you wear them; the toes are open and they're incredibly comfortable ♡

They go well with sandals, and are also recommended for wearing indoors when your feet get a little chilly.

5. oHacorte

Yuinichi Street Ohakorte Store ExteriorOhacorte is a leading sweets shop in Okinawa.

Originally, there was a small store in the domestic terminal, but the store on Yuinichi Street is this big!

What's more, while previous stores only sold baked goods, here you can also buy tarts with vibrantly colored fruits.

I'd love to relax here and unwind at the end of my Okinawa trip ♡

Yuinichi Street Ohakorte Happiness-Bringing Bird SableOf course, the classic "Happiness-Bringing Bird Sable" is also a good choice.

This product has a relatively long shelf life and the packaging is undeniably cute, so I always find it useful as a souvenir.

Although it needs to be refrigerated, the "Traveling Tart Sandwich" with butter cream filling is also exquisite, so be sure to get it as a snack on your flight!

6. There is also a food court with a panoramic view of the runway.

Yuinichi Street also has other shops catering to tourists visiting Japan, such as Bic Camera and Muji.

And once I've finished all my shopping, the next place I want to visit is the food court on the 4th floor.

You can enjoy a meal in an open space while watching planes take off and land.

Also, the LCC terminal, which previously required the use of a shuttle bus, has moved to the new international terminal located beyond Yuinichi Street, so you can enjoy Yuinichi Street and the food court even when using an LCC!

7. Conclusion

Yuinichi StreetUp until now, people who had to stop by various places during their trip to find unique Okinawan souvenirs might now find wonderful gifts just by visiting Yuinichi Street towards the end of their trip.

One thing to note is that Yuinichi Street is a bit of a distance from the domestic terminal.

It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the domestic terminal to the entrance of Yuinichi Street.

Depending on the boarding gate, it may be close, but if your gate is far away, be sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare.
