[Hotel Review] We stayed at The Beach Tower Okinawa with our family and kids!

Beach Tower Okinawa

When planning a trip with children, what's the most important thing? I have two children, ages 3 and 2, and they're at the height of their mischievous energy.

Okay! Let's go on a trip! But the biggest challenge for my husband and me was deciding "where to go." We quickly settled on Okinawa, thinking about where we'd make our child happy. However, deciding what to do in Okinawa and where to stay became a major issue. There were so many things to worry about, like the food, the condition of the beds, and places to play...

After searching around, we decided on "The Beach Tower Okinawa" because it had a great pool and excellent services for children.

So, in this article, I'd like to give you a detailed look at what kind of hotel it is, what it was like staying there with my family, and share some photos and images that aren't available on the official website.

I'd like to share my thoughts, experiences, and impressions of the accommodation, so it will be a long read, but I hope you enjoy it!

■Husband, the little ones (older brother 3 years 3 months old, younger sister 2 years 4 months old), and myself - a total of 4 people

1. What kind of hotel is Beach Tower Okinawa?

Beach Tower OkinawaThe Beach Tower Okinawa is a hotel located in Chatan Town, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture, roughly in the center of Okinawa Island.

The tower-style building houses a total of 280 guest rooms, ranging from single rooms to sky suites, catering to a variety of needs. The views from the rooms are spectacular, with stunning vistas of the beach and the blue ocean stretching out below.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe guest room floor has an open atrium, and plenty of light pours in from the ceiling, creating a bright and relaxing atmosphere. The greenery accents and the warm air made me feel like I was in a tropical paradise, which hadn't been the case before.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe adjacent "Chura-yu" is a unique facility in Okinawa that combines a heated swimming pool with a hot spring, a first in the region.
There are shallow pools where children can play safely, as well as pools that adults can enjoy, and you can also spend time watching the sunset over the East China Sea.

2. From arrival at the hotel to check-in

Beach Tower OkinawaAs expected, there were many cars with "wa" license plates in the parking lot. Many people chose to park in the shade on the first floor rather than in the sun. I recommend parking in the shade because the inside of the car gets hot.

Beach Tower OkinawaLooking up, it truly looks like a "tower"! The view from the balcony also seems great.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe little ones were diligently picking up nuts that had fallen in the parking lot, perhaps finding them unusual.
And in the parking lot, when you enter, the security guard kindly takes your parking ticket and hands it to you. What a thoughtful gesture.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe white material laid beneath the pillars consists of seashells and bleached coral that have washed ashore. It's a wonderful way to reuse and beautifully decorate with nature's bounty. And beyond that, there's a green tunnel that makes you feel as if you're stepping into a jungle!

Beach Tower OkinawaWhat I personally thought was "Wow, that's great!" was the ground.

Leaf-patterned stone slabs are laid out, creating a complete tropical atmosphere! Even small details can make a big difference in how enjoyable the experience is♪

Beach Tower OkinawaA lush, green entrance. It's an exciting moment, wondering what kind of world awaits.

Beach Tower OkinawaStepping inside feels just like being in a theme park! The little ones were cheering and absolutely thrilled.

When we visited, it seemed they had temporary decorations like balloons to celebrate their 10th anniversary. (It was until July 14th.)

The Beach Tower also has many features designed with children in mind, so they won't get bored while waiting to check in. (It's a real treat!)

Beach Tower OkinawaI arrived a little after 14 PM. Luckily, there were seats available.
If you're worried about whether your child will be able to wait during busy times, don't worry! Between 15 PM and 20 PM, there's a desert scops owl named "Guna" right behind you to keep them entertained, and there's a bookshelf next to him filled with lots of picture books, so you won't have any trouble keeping them entertained♪

And one of the perks you receive when you stay there is the "kids service," which is a great benefit.
Beach Tower OkinawaThe booth next to the front desk has a variety of diapers, formula, baby food, and snacks on display. My family has a son (3 years old) and a daughter (2 years old), and the 2-year-old is still in diapers, so we gratefully took some.

The diaper brands available are Moony, Mamypoko, Merries, Pampers, GOON, and GENKI! Six major brands! It's nice to have the brand you usually use...

Beach Tower OkinawaAfter checking in and receiving our diapers, we finally headed to our room. The staff carried our luggage for us, so I was able to keep an eye on the little ones.

There are a total of four elevators, two of which are wheelchair accessible. The air conditioning is also working well, making it very pleasant! Many hotels in overseas resorts only have two elevators, which can be a hassle during breakfast or other busy times, but with four, you probably won't have to wait too long.

3. What's the room like?

Beach Tower OkinawaThis time, I was given the standard type, which was spacious and comfortable. The clean white base color with blue accents that evoke a sense of coolness is lovely.

Beach Tower OkinawaWe booked a room for four people, with one person sharing a bed. The room consisted of two separate rooms, with a bedroom at the back of a spacious living room. (Right side of the photo)

The partition was a great feature, allowing us to close the door and chat comfortably on the sofa after putting the little ones to sleep. The wide bed in the living room was perfect for napping or lounging around while watching TV. It was a convenient bed that we could use at any time.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd the wonderful service I requested: Hollywood twin twilight seating!

Normally there's a gap between the beds, but they offer a service to fill the gap for co-sleeping upon request (reservations required). I was worried my little ones would fall out of bed because they're restless sleepers, but we could have them sleep in the middle with an adult acting as a bed guard. This was a lifesaver!

The firmness of the bed was just right. If it were too soft, there's a risk of babies who like to sleep on their stomachs sinking into it... (This is surprisingly easy to overlook).
My baby loves sleeping on her stomach, so I let her sleep without a pillow.

Beach Tower OkinawaThere was also a sink inside the room, which was convenient for washing small dirty items.

Let's take a look under the sink.

Beach Tower OkinawaOpening the cabinet door under the sink... I discovered a refrigerator! It's empty, so I can put in the drinks I brought with me.

We brought fever reducers with us just in case, but the freezing effect was excellent. I think a compact size is good because larger refrigerators don't cool as well.

Even though it's on the smaller side, it's a great little thing that can hold about six drinks, two ice creams, and a whole pineapple! It was a lifesaver during my stay. (Setting it to level 7 (high) will even freeze the drinks. That's great in the summer!)

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd next to the sink was a large pot. We no longer need it at home, but it's essential for making formula milk. The fact that a large capacity (2.2L) one is provided as standard is a convenient point when traveling with family.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe power supply is located behind the TV. Because it's in a secluded spot, I could use it with peace of mind knowing the kids couldn't tamper with it (or even notice it). The pipe in front of the TV in the photo is for drying towels and other items. It's not hot enough to burn you if you touch it, so it's fine to leave it there! But be careful it doesn't tip over...

There is an internet connection available, and you can use it for free if you connect via wired LAN. This time, my friend and I brought two devices (there is only one wired LAN port, so only one device can be connected at a time). Also, you can connect to Wi-Fi in the lobby on the first floor, so make good use of that as well!

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd then there were the towels placed next to the sink. I thought it was normal to have bathrobes or yukata (Japanese-style robes) at resorts, but to my delight, pajamas were provided as standard.

You can also borrow children's sizes from 100cm up by asking at the front desk, so be sure to take advantage of this! In addition, children's toothbrushes, slippers, and toilet seat adapters are available for loan at the front desk! The services are always thoughtfully designed with children in mind, which is truly impressive.

Next, let's explore the bathroom.

Beach Tower OkinawaUpon opening the door, you'll find a separate bathroom and toilet, with a sink located at the front. It was very clean and pleasant to use!

My impression was that "there was nothing extra in the low-profile spaces." (This is quite important when you have children, isn't it?)

Children tend to turn vases and pictures into toys, so I felt that the clean, uncluttered atmosphere was a thoughtful consideration for families with children.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe amenities are also excellent! Not only are toothbrushes and cups provided, but everything you need, including brushes, clean cotton swabs, and a hairdryer, is available. You really won't need to bring bulky carry-on luggage!

Beach Tower OkinawaEven the casually placed cups are part of the decor! To the right of them is toilet paper.

Beach Tower OkinawaA step stool is provided under the sink in the bathroom. It's difficult to hold a child while they wash their hands or brush their teeth, so having one is a great help! I was very grateful to be able to use it.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe bathroom is just big enough for a family of four. The bathtub is also kept very clean, and there is no dust floating in the water.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd in the closet across from the bathroom, there is a safety deposit box.

Next, let's take a look at the balcony.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe view from the balcony is truly "tropical!!" It was quite windy that day, but on calm, windless days you can see the clear, blue sea that is unique to Okinawa! Even so, the water is still remarkably clear, so let's call it a success.

The photo was taken at low tide. When the tide goes out, it recedes to the point where white waves are visible. Below, you can see "Churayu," a facility attached to the beach resort. I'll talk about that later.

Beach Tower OkinawaIn terms of preventing falls, the railing is thin, and I think it's safe. However, being a worrier, I got nervous every time the kids put their arms and legs over the railing.

Just in case something happens, I can't take my eyes off them. I think it's better to have an adult accompany them when they go out onto the balcony.

4. Dinner looked like this!

Beach Tower OkinawaSince we were there anyway, we decided to enjoy a seaside barbecue and made a reservation when we checked in!

At 7 PM, we went to the restaurant on the first floor, which also serves as the breakfast venue. The restaurant is divided into two sections: the inside is used by those having all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu, and the terrace is used for barbecues.
We're having a barbecue, so we're heading to the terrace.

Please note that the barbecue includes all-you-can-drink, but the shabu-shabu does not. *All-you-can-drink is available for an additional charge.

Beach Tower OkinawaBecause we had made a reservation, they had already prepared a high chair for our child.

And did you notice? Small items like tongs, paper napkins, and salt are all neatly set out on the adult side. How thoughtful! I really admire this consideration.

Beach Tower OkinawaBy the way, the terrace has a very bright and pleasant atmosphere. It's covered, so rain is no problem! I thought that food tastes better when you eat it while looking at the sea.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe 2-hour all-you-can-eat buffet begins! First, I head inside to check what's available. I was about to get some meat when... wait!

Huh? Can I eat all of this? Answer: Yes, everything in the restaurant is all-you-can-eat! (Except for the shabu-shabu)

Beach Tower OkinawaThe selection is incredible! I was grinning as I looked around, wondering what to eat.
I completely forgot about the meat and was in the mood for a buffet! There was a wide variety of my favorite sushi and freshly fried tempura.

Okinawa is known for its delicious fish, and the sushi toppings are large and incredibly fresh! It seemed to be a popular section, as the items disappeared as soon as they were put out.

Beach Tower OkinawaFurthermore, each corner of the buffet was overflowing with delicious food, and there was just so much I wanted to eat. They even had salads and Okinawan specialties like sea grapes! My younger brother chose bread. I thought, "Bread with yakiniku?", but that's a matter of personal preference...

Beach Tower OkinawaI had been interested in the kids' buffet since making the reservation. While they've become more common in hotels lately, I was surprised by the wide variety of options at the Beach Tower's kids' buffet!

Beach Tower OkinawaThere were always about 10 different kinds of treats lined up in a corner filled with cute, dreamy prints. It was packed with menu items that kids would love! It was absolutely amazing!!

The counter is low, so there's the fun of being able to grab things yourself! (Apparently, this is quite important for children.)

My older son is extremely picky, but he happily ate hamburgers, potatoes, omelets, and curry! This was especially helpful for my younger daughter, who still has trouble swallowing barbecue meat.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd for families with babies, "porridge" is a welcome option.

Isn't it amazing that there's rice porridge specifically for weaning babies?! I happened to see a mom who was putting stewed vegetables on top of rice porridge for her baby. Even babies would rather eat something warm and homemade than store-bought baby food, right?

Beach Tower OkinawaAfter enjoying the buffet, we went to look for ingredients for our barbecue. First, we picked out some colorful vegetables. My husband, however, said, "I want to eat meat more than vegetables!" and quickly headed to the meat section.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd then I finally made my way to the meat section! There were so many varieties, I couldn't decide! It was amazing, absolutely amazing!! Just looking at them got me excited. (sweat)

Beach Tower OkinawaI wanted to eat everything there was, but my stomach just couldn't handle it, so I set aside the main dish, kalbi, regular bone-in kalbi, loin, pork tongue, chicken, sausage, etc... There was also pork, corn, and other things.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd then the barbecue began! The meat quickly took up more than half of the grill.

The table is quite spacious, and the little ones have to stand up in their high chairs to reach it. I was somewhat relieved because they reach out for it so quickly.

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd what really impressed me was that in addition to all-you-can-eat, there was also all-you-can-drink. There was a beer server on the terrace, and they had a lineup of brands including Yebisu, Premium Malt's, Super Dry, Ichiban Shibori, and Orion Draft.

What really got my husband and me excited was that there was also a separate "chilled foam" topping for the beer.

Pour your beer and top it with a super-cold, smoothie-like foam, and the foam lasts longer! The coldness lasts longer! You can enjoy delicious beer for as long as you like♪ (Unfortunately, I got too excited and forgot to take a picture...)

I generally love drinking alcohol, but I usually find it difficult to drink because I worry about driving if my child suddenly develops a fever in the middle of the night. However, on this day, I drank to my heart's content.

In addition to the above, they also offer all-you-can-drink awamori, shochu, sours, cocktails, whiskey, and soft drinks! You won't find this much food and drink at most izakayas. And what's more, it tastes great! Delicious!!

You might think I'm overpraising it, but it was so delicious that I couldn't help but praise it excessively.

Beach Tower OkinawaTime to taste it! And the flavor is...

It's truly, truly delicious!!! My husband and I are absolutely raving about it. To put it another way, the quality is completely different! It's exceptional!!

My husband was very happy enjoying a cold beer along with the sizzling sound of the meat grilling! I'm so glad we chose a seaside barbecue that the whole family could enjoy.

It was a moment of pure bliss!

5. Breakfast looks like this!

Beach Tower OkinawaBreakfast was a buffet served in the same venue as the seaside barbecue.
With expectations soaring after the impressive barbecue, we were eager to see just how amazing breakfast would be.

The corner where you can make your own hamburger seemed to be popular, and both children and adults were having fun making them.

Beach Tower OkinawaPersonally, the dish that I found so delicious I ordered seconds was the "island tofu." It was served with moromi miso, and the combination was surprisingly good and delicious!

I'd only ever eaten tofu with soy sauce or dressing before, so this was a refreshing change! I'm sure we'll be having it with moromi miso in the future. It's also a great side dish that can be mashed with a spoon and used as baby food!

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd despite being a resort, they also serve onsen tamago (hot spring eggs). The smooth, cool texture seems to be popular with tourists from overseas.

Beach Tower OkinawaIn addition to eggs, the chef will also cook omelets and fried eggs right in front of you. If you don't like soft-boiled eggs, try a freshly made omelet!

Beach Tower OkinawaFor those who prefer bread for breakfast, this is the perfect section! It's filled with delicious side dishes that go well with bread, such as bacon, sausage, and potatoes.

Beach Tower OkinawaIn the section featuring warm dishes, you'll find Okinawan specialties like Goya Champuru, so you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine from the morning!

At the food corner, popular dishes include Okinawan-style breakfast curry with ingredients like satsuma-age (fried fish cake), and Okinawan-style mixed rice cooked with hijiki seaweed. You can also enjoy Soki Soba (Okinawan pork rib noodle soup)!

Beach Tower OkinawaAnd what impressed me the most was the pineapple.

The food was delicious, of course, but as expected of Okinawa!! The sweetness of the pineapple was on a completely different level from the ones I usually buy and eat at the supermarket.

There were also other thoughtful treats like almond tofu, yogurt, jelly, and cornflakes. Our whole family ate lots of pineapple!

Beach Tower OkinawaAlso, something that is a must, no, absolutely, no, you absolutely must try is the homemade jam. Even if you only eat rice, I hope you'll give it a taste.

Made with fruits that showcase the unique characteristics of their region, this homemade jam can be enjoyed as a dessert even without spreading it on bread. I tried it with yogurt, and it was so delicious I almost screamed with delight.

I wanted to bow my head and say, "Chefs, I was so happy to have encountered such delicious food! Thank you so much!!" before leaving. (My husband stopped me, so I didn't.)

6. This is what Churayu looks like!

Beach Tower OkinawaChura-yu is a hot spring and pool facility located next to Beach Tower Okinawa.

Visitors are welcome, but overnight guests are not.It is available for free.
⇒As of April 1, 2019, hotel guests are now also charged a fee.
Prices vary depending on the day of the week, so please check the details on-site before using the service.

The hot springs are open year-round from 7 am to 23 pm, making it a wonderful place where you can fulfill your dream of watching the sunset by the pool. *The pool is generally available from 10 am to 22 pm.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe little ones hurried off to the pool, clearly very excited.

However, here's one mistake! At Chura-yu, the reception counter is immediately to the right after you enter through the automatic doors, and you have to go through the hot spring facilities to get to the pool, so you need to bring a change of clothes.

Please be careful as you cannot walk around the Churayu lobby while wet... (The family ended up going back to get a change of clothes...)

Beach Tower OkinawaI left my belongings in a free locker and brought only the bare essentials, so off I went to the pool! And there was another "useful item" here!

That's right, an air pump! Back in the day, you'd normally inflate things by mouth, but bringing a handy air pump along can be a real hassle! But here, you can inflate things in a flash, so it's definitely a lifesaver!

Beach Tower OkinawaThese are the reliable staff members. To ensure the safety of our users, there are always 2-3 people on duty, providing warm and attentive support.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe pool is shallow at 80 centimeters on the upper level and deeper at 1 meter on the lower level.
In the middle of summer, the sunlight warms the pool, so you can play in it for quite a long time.

Beach Tower OkinawaIt was a huge relief for the little ones, who had runny noses the whole time, because they could play without getting cold. (They stayed in the water for two hours afterward...)

Beach Tower OkinawaAs evening approached and the tide came in, we moved to the beach (you can access the beach directly from the pool).

A net-covered partition, commonly known as a "jellyfish net," is in place, so there's no need to worry about the dangerous Okinawan sea creature, the box jellyfish, getting in, making it a safe place to swim.

Beach Tower OkinawaThe clarity of the water is truly amazing, almost unbelievable for the ocean. In Okinawa, the stronger the sunlight, the clearer the seabed becomes as the light reflects off the bottom, but today it was a bit cloudy. Even so, it was worth coming because the water is so crystal clear!

Beach Tower OkinawaTo finish off, we moved to the healing pool to warm ourselves up.

One of the unique features of Chura-yu Pool is that it has a healing pool that uses hot spring water. However, the water temperature is about 38 degrees Celsius, so be careful not to get too hot while playing. *Inflatable rings are allowed!

7. This is what the area around the hotel looks like!

American villageSince we had the opportunity, we headed to "American Village," which was only a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. Within walking distance, there was a Jusco supermarket, a teppanyaki restaurant, Red Lobster, Mos Burger, McDonald's, and a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. With so many options, you'll never have trouble finding something to eat! There's even a movie theater.

American villageIt's built like a theme park, very spacious, with a shopping mall, karaoke, game corner, Ferris wheel, and more. We went in the evening, but we didn't have enough time to experience everything.

American villageLooking back, there's the Beach Tower! It really stands out. Because the building is so tall, it's very noticeable, which was actually a plus because it made getting from the highway exit to the hotel much easier.

American villageEven though I was short on time, it was the perfect spot for an evening stroll, and I was able to walk leisurely along the river.

American villageThe mall is filled with fashion, accessories, toys, and more, making it quite enjoyable. The kids are happy with even the smallest things.
Also, Okinawa is famous for its hamburgers, which are almost always featured in Okinawan travel magazines. They also have Blue Seal ice cream!

American villageThis is what the whole picture looks like!

The area around Beach Tower is bustling with various attractions and is enjoyable even at night. The photo was taken from the Ferris wheel. The kids begged me to ride it. (Actually, I have a fear of heights...)

American villageYou can faintly see Tonaki Island from the Ferris wheel. If the weather is good, you can even enjoy a sunset Ferris wheel ride instead of a sunset cruise!

Summary

Beach imageMy family probably travels quite a lot. I was a little worried about whether we could enjoy Okinawa with children, but thanks to the hotel's excellent organization and attentive service, it turned out to be a very memorable trip.

Traveling with children often involves various risks and tends to become a trip focused solely on "making sure the kids have fun." However, I've learned that with proper research and choosing a hotel that suits children, parents can also fully enjoy themselves.

Beach Tower OkinawaMy kids are at a very mischievous age, and I was constantly worried about them making a mess, breaking things, and finding something to eat since they are picky eaters. But I'm so glad I chose Beach Tower because they have excellent support for children. It's a hotel I would definitely like to stay at again when I go to Okinawa!
