At Shuri Castle Park, a portion of the construction area, which is normally off-limits, will be specially opened to the public for nine days, from Saturday, December 27, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026.

This special public viewing is being held to coincide with the first New Year's celebration for the Shuri Castle main hall, now that its exterior renovations have been completed.
This is a rare opportunity to see the lustrous, freshly lacquered exterior of the main hall up close from the front.

You can experience the progress of Shuri Castle's reconstruction from a perspective you wouldn't normally see.

■ Special release overview

Period: 2025 year 12 month 27 day (Saturday) to 2026 year 1 month 4 day (Sunday)
Time: 8: 30 to 18: 00
　*From January 1st (Thursday, public holiday) to 3rd (Saturday), 2026, the hours will be 13:00 to 18:00.
Location: Part of the courtyard (between the Hoshinmon Gate and the main hall) in Shuri Castle Park
Admission fee: Included in the paid area entrance fee.

■ Notes

・Depending on weather conditions or crowd levels, the public viewing area may be changed, or the viewing may be suspended or canceled.
• This is a construction area, so there are steps and gaps underfoot. Please be very careful.
• Visitors using wheelchairs will be directed to view the area from the base of the Hoshinmon Gate.
・Nets and other protective measures have been installed in some areas to protect the exterior of the main hall.
・Entry is not permitted outside of the open garden areas or inside the main hall.

■ Related Information (New Year's Celebration / January 1st-3rd, 2026)

During this period, the New Year's festival "New Year's Banquet" will be held.
In addition, a discount on admission fees will be offered for residents of Okinawa Prefecture.
Adults: 400 yen → 320 yen
Junior high school students: 300 yen → 240 yen
Children (elementary and junior high school students): 160 yen → 120 yen
*Admission is free for Okinawa residents aged 70 and over, and for preschool children.

Shuri Castle symbolizes the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which flourished for approximately 450 years, from 1429 to 1879.
Currently, under the theme of "Reconstruction to be Seen," the restoration process is being made public, and events are being held where visitors can experience exhibitions based on historical facts, as well as culture and performing arts.
