1. What is "Ship of the Ryukyu"?

"Ship of the Ryukyu" is a stage performance born from the desire to "let people all over the world enjoy the performing arts and culture that Okinawa is proud of!"
When you hear about Okinawan performing arts and culture, it might sound complicated...but actually, there are probably many things that you already know. For example
The unique melody of the sanshin is soothing.
Eisa dance with powerful drumming
People dancing in brightly colored kimonos
Many of the things we perceive as "typically Okinawan" are performing arts and culture that have thrived on this island for centuries. And for the people of Okinawa, these are familiar sights that are part of their daily lives. It's not difficult at all!
That's precisely why it's packed with the true charm of Okinawa, delivering an unpretentious and moving experience to viewers.

However, when you actually try to find out "when," "where," and "what kind" of performances you can see while traveling, it can be surprisingly difficult. That's why "Ship of the Ryukyu" was created, so that anyone can easily enjoy authentic performing arts.
On an island overflowing with song and dance, a group of true entertainers have come together to create this stage. It's the ultimate entertainment experience designed to let you "enjoy" and "learn about" Okinawan performing arts and culture.
That's "Ship of the Ryukyu"!
4. Add a special touch to your trip. Four unique performances you won't want to miss.

"Ship of the Ryukyu," which has been gaining fans with its unique performances every year, is now in its fifth year. In 2017, it will present four different types of content sequentially at two venues in Naha City.
Both venues are just a short walk from Kokusai Street, which is a great advantage for planning your trip!
Now, let's take a look at the highlights of these four even more powerful performances!
