1. What kind of place is "Onna no Eki Nakayukui Ichiba"?

Women's Station

"Onna no Eki" is located along National Route 58 in Onna Village, Kunigami District, in the central part of Okinawa Island. Route 58, which connects the north and south of the main island, is a popular scenic drive route known for its "superb locations."

If you drive from Naha Airport towards the Churaumi Aquarium in the north, Onna no Eki is located roughly halfway there. Across the road is a small promenade that leads down to the sea, making it a great place to refresh yourself.

Women's Station

And best of all, Onna no Eki (Women's Station) has an amazing selection of gourmet food!
With its exquisite cuisine, great location, and easy access, this place has it all – it's the perfect spot for a break during a drive!

Alright everyone, hungry and with a keen eye for quality, the wait is over! Let's take a look at our recommendations!

2. I researched 13 recommended items!

1. Kotobukiya Kamaboko

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Juicy Bomb / 200 yen each (tax included)

Freshly fried, plump kamaboko (fish cake) filled with Jushi, a type of Okinawan mixed rice. It's the perfect snack for a light meal. Freshly fried kamaboko is truly delicious!

2. Onsai Shokubo Pipara

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Futamata Soba / 750 yen (tax included)

If you're in Okinawa, you absolutely have to try Okinawa soba. My top recommendation is the luxurious "Futamata Soba," which lets you enjoy both pork belly and pork ribs. This restaurant offers great value and generous portions for those with a big appetite.

3. Butasaburo

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Deep-fried Tebichi (pig's trotters) / 2 pieces for 550 yen (tax included)

Tebichi, or pig's trotters, are a favorite food of Okinawan people. These tebichi are packed with flavor and collagen, and are generously coated in a sweet and spicy sauce made with black vinegar, creating an addictive taste. This is a dish you'll want to take a big, hearty bite of.
I'm surprised by the price for this much food!

4. Ryukyu Confectionery Mitsuya Honpo

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Mitsuya Ball / 100 yen each (tax included)

This sata andagi (Okinawan doughnut) specialty shop has been featured in the media many times. Their fluffy and chewy "Mitsuya Ball" (formerly known as "Dragon Ball") is perfect for a road trip!
A super famous shop that's always crowded and popular with locals. Great for souvenirs too.

5. Bao (packet)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Mozuku seaweed steamed bun / 3 pieces for 600 yen (tax included)

The slightly unusual combination of "mozuku seaweed and meat bun" is a popular menu item that can only be found here. The dough and filling are generously filled with mozuku seaweed from Onna Village, as well as pork and tomatoes!
This dish is healthy yet incredibly satisfying – a truly delightful combination.

6. A・DA・N (Adan)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Squid ink juicy candy / 2 pieces for 150 yen (tax included)

Despite its stylish name, this shop evokes a sense of nostalgia. The striking jet-black rice ball, "Ikasumi Juicy," is a dish packed with the delicious flavors of the sea.
We also recommend Okinawa's soul food, "Pork and Egg Onigiri (rice ball) / 200 yen (tax included)".

7. Ryukyu Ice (Ryupin)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Ice Mountain Tropical Fruit / 1,000 yen (tax included)

"Ice Mountain" is a shaved ice dessert that is incredibly satisfying in both volume and taste. The "Tropical Fruit" version, topped with passion fruit, strawberries, mango, and pineapple, is truly a quintessential Okinawan treat.
A great ally for quickly cooling down your body when you're sweating under the strong sun while driving!

8. Kana-chan Parlor

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Brown sugar zenzai (sweet red bean soup) / 300 yen (tax included)

While there are differences between the Kanto and Kansai regions, the general image of "zenzai" is that it's a warm dish. However, in Okinawa, "zenzai" refers to shaved ice topped with red bean paste and mochi balls. A distinctive feature is the fluffy texture of the red bean paste, which is made using kidney beans instead of adzuki beans.
Grandma Kana's secret recipe, simmered slowly and carefully, has a gentle, comforting sweetness that will chase away any driving fatigue!

9. Hama no Ie (Takoyaki)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Takoyaki / 400 yen (tax included) Agemochi / 150 yen (tax included)

When taking a break during a road trip, you can't go wrong with some easy-to-eat snack food!
Even familiar snacks like takoyaki and agemochi, commonly found at service areas on the mainland, taste especially special when enjoyed under the Okinawan sky. What's more, these takoyaki have the added bonus of staying fluffy and delicious even when cold! Perfect as a snack in your car!

10. Hama no Ie, Onna Village Seafood Direct Sales Store

Women's Station
☻Recommended: Mussels with sea urchin sauce / 120 yen each (tax included)

This restaurant lets you enjoy the bounty of the sea in Onna Village to your heart's content. You can eat your fill of rice bowls and grilled dishes at reasonable prices!
The "Mussels with Sea Urchin Sauce," with its irresistible rich aroma, is a dish you absolutely must try.

Women's Station

"Onna no Eki" has an outdoor shop facing the parking lot, as well as an indoor shop that sells vegetables, prepared foods, souvenirs, and more.
Not only can you enjoy delicious food and take a break, but you might also find souvenirs that are hard to find anywhere else!

11. Bonjour, a Parisian bakery (located on the 2nd floor of the building)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Ham & Mushroom Bread / 460 yen (tax included) per loaf; Salted Bread / 90 yen (tax included) per loaf

As the name suggests, this is a charming bakery that makes you feel like you've stepped into a back alley in France!
The "Ham & Mushroom" burger, which is about the size of a face, is a popular item with only 6 available per day.
They often sell out around lunchtime, so if you find them, you'll want to grab them without hesitation.

The slightly sweet "salt bread" is the perfect size for when you're feeling a little hungry.
There's also an eat-in area at the back of the shop, so you can enjoy freshly baked goods right there.

12. Awamori-dokoro Kamiya (1st floor of the building)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: Ryukyu Awamori Manza 10-Year Aged Sake

This shop offers a selection of awamori carefully chosen by the owner. "Manza," an awamori from Onna Village, is a rare item that is difficult to find in typical souvenir shops.

There are also Awamori bottles with original, handwritten labels that are sure to bring a smile to your face, making them great souvenirs!
This is a shop worth checking out if you're a fan of alcohol.

13. Agricultural Products & Local Specialty Products Sales Corner (1st floor of the store)

Women's Station

☻Recommended: All

The first floor of the store lives up to its name as a "direct sales outlet," offering a wide selection of fresh vegetables harvested in and around Onna Village, as well as "Onna Village's finest products" that can only be bought here.

For tourists, it's a place to find unique souvenirs, and for locals, it has the atmosphere of a kitchen – it's incredibly lively!

Another great point is that they have a wide selection of traditional Okinawan crafts, such as "yachimun" pottery and "Ryukyu glass"!

I'm so incredibly envious of people who can shop here every day...
