"New Paradise Street" is slowly but surely gaining popularity. However, there's still not much information about it online... so I went to check it out!
Despite being just off Kokusai Street, the atmosphere is surprisingly quiet. Amidst this tranquility, you'll find a row of cafes and shops showcasing the owners' personal touches.
Here, we'll introduce recommended cafes, general stores, restaurants, and spacious parks through photos and videos!

[1] What is New Paradise Boulevard?
[1-1] A street lined with stylish and unique shops
This is the street located just north of Kokusai-dori. Its official name is "Shinsei-dori," but it is also labeled as "Paradise-dori" or "New Paradise-dori" on maps.
It's about 400 meters long, and if you walk straight, it takes less than 5 minutes.
However, if you go there, you'll surely find yourself stopping to admire it.
You'll encounter one unique shop after another, each with a somewhat retro feel.
This area offers a different experience from typical tourist spots, with cafes, general stores, lush green parks, and restaurants serving Okinawan soba noodles.
[1-2] Access is right off Kokusai Street.
★Click on the map to enlarge★
It's located a short walk north from the middle of Kokusai Street.
If you enter Kokusai-dori from the west side near Kencho-mae Station, head north at Matsuo Intersection.
(Cross the street north from in front of the building that has a Lawson convenience store on the first floor and Steak Dining 88 on the second floor.)
If you're coming from the east, near Makishi Station, cross north at Mutsumibashi intersection and head towards Okiei Avenue.
(Mutsumibashi Intersection is located in front of Don Quijote and the Mutsumibashi Shopping Arcade.)
Go straight and turn left at the first traffic light, and you'll be at the beginning of New Paradise Street.

7… [Coffee Stall Hibariya]

This hidden gem of a coffee shop is actually gaining popularity through word of mouth.
They've set up a food stall in the backyard of a hair salon and turned it into a cafe.

00... [Midorioka Park]

It's hard to believe this park is so close to the bustling city center; it's spacious, lush with greenery, and incredibly quiet.
There are various playground equipment, but what's most appealing are the banyan trees with their thick, bushy vines.

It creates a pleasant shade in the heart of a tropical city.
Further inside, you reach a small hill, and climbing the stone steps feels like stepping onto a stage.

Actually, there are several old graves behind the building. (Although, since this is Okinawa, they aren't like the stone monuments found on the mainland, but rather more like stone huts.)
This is something unique to Okinawa, isn't it?
[Summary] Impressions and advice
This street is less than 400 meters long. Yet, if you peek into each shop and stop by the park, an hour isn't enough time to explore it all.
There are other restaurants and unique izakayas that we couldn't cover in this article.
This street, overflowing with tranquility, character, and greenery, is hard to believe is so close to Kokusai Street. Be sure to take your time and stroll around without feeling rushed.
Going back and forth and changing your perspective can be fun, as you might discover something new.
I went there around 10 AM, full of enthusiasm, but most places only open for lunch. It was eerily quiet...
Even some shops that are supposed to open at 11:30 are a bit questionable in terms of whether they're actually open or not. It might be best to come visit around 12:00 and have lunch there.
