The yellow exterior doesn't look like a soba restaurant at all, and once you step inside, it feels just like a cafe.

However, the soba noodles themselves are authentic, and the deliciousness of the broth is said to be what attracts local customers.

Looking at this one photo alone, it looks like nothing but a cafe.

From the name "Mainichi Shokudo" (Everyday Diner), I initially thought it was a set meal restaurant, but it's undeniably an Okinawan soba noodle shop. It's neither a cafe nor a set meal restaurant.

"Mainichi Shokudo" already has an unusual feel to it, both from its exterior and its name.

The shop has a pop and casual atmosphere with colorful chairs lined up inside. There are few seats for the size of the space, so it feels very spacious and relaxed.

While Okinawan soba specialty restaurants often have a cramped and noisy atmosphere, this place offers Okinawan soba in a space that feels more like a cafe.

A wonderful aroma of broth wafts from behind the counter, filling the shop with a delightful scent.

And I was captivated by the sight of all the Yachimun pottery lined up.

I was really surprised by this kids' play area!

Have you ever seen an Okinawan soba specialty restaurant with a kids' play area before?

It's only about the size of one tatami mat, but you can take off your shoes, step onto the tatami, and play with picture books and toys.

Children can get bored while waiting for their food at restaurants, so this space is a real lifesaver for customers with kids.

We even have baby bouncers available. Of course, we also have children's tableware and high chairs.

4. Soup you can drink down to the last drop.

So, I ordered the soft bone pork rib soba. It came with two thick slices of pork ribs, making it a very filling dish.

Enticed by the aroma of bonito broth, I started by tasting the soup, and was surprised by its deliciousness.

It's refreshing yet full of flavor, not at all greasy, and the soup is so delicious you'll want to keep drinking it.

The soup, thin flat noodles, and tender, sweet and savory braised pork ribs are in perfect balance.

The contrast between the light broth and the rich pork ribs is delightful, making it easy to keep eating.

And even though I usually leave some of the soup from my noodle dishes, on this day I drank every last drop.

This is soft bone pork rib and aasa soba. "Aasa" is the Okinawan word for sea lettuce.
A subtle hint of the sea wafts through the air, giving it a completely different flavor.

If you're visiting for the second time or sharing with someone, you should definitely try the Asa Soba.
They also have pork belly soba and soft tofu soba.

5. A wide variety of dishes are available besides soba.

You can order soba noodles à la carte, but we recommend the Jushi set. Like the soba, it has a very gentle and refined flavor.

In addition, they also have other menu items such as taco rice and cartilage pork rib rice bowls, so you won't have any trouble finding something to eat if you're with someone who wants something other than soba noodles.

After your meal, be sure to try the zenzai (sweet red bean soup), a quintessential dessert at Okinawan soba restaurants, or the owner's carefully selected coffee.

"Mainichi Shokudo" is a restaurant that isn't yet featured prominently in guidebooks and has many local regulars.

Groups of men in work clothes, presumably on their way to work, and families with children kept coming in one after another, showing that the place is loved by people of all generations.
