Kokusai-dori is the common name for a street in Naha City that stretches approximately 1.6 km from the intersection at the north exit of the prefectural office (in front of Palette Kumoji) to the Asato intersection.
This area holds great significance for locals, even being called the "Miracle Mile" as a symbol of Okinawa's post-war reconstruction from a burnt-out wasteland.

Currently, thanks to its convenient location just 15 minutes from the airport, it has become a bustling shopping street popular with tourists.

This time, we've carefully selected some of the best shops on Kokusai Street that you should definitely visit if you're looking for souvenirs!

2. Let's go find some classic souvenirs!

Fukugiya's Baumkuchen

Fukugiya

Fukugiya is a Baumkuchen specialty shop with the concept of "May the circle of delicious happiness spread!"

Fukugiya's Baumkuchen, which originated in Okinawa, is named after trees found in Okinawa.
The plain type is named "Fukugi," and the hard type is named "Gajumaru."
This confection is as strong as the trees of Okinawa, and the dough is carefully layered like the annual rings of a tree! Fukugiya's Baumkuchen is made with great care and attention.

We are committed to using Okinawan ingredients, and our generous use of honey, brown sugar, salt, and eggs gives our products a wonderfully fluffy texture!
It's also interesting to watch them making everything by hand in the store every day!
Why not express your gratitude with a gift infused with Okinawan flavor?

Aragaki Chinsuko

arakaki_chinsuko

Arakaki Chinsuko is a representative example of a famous shop specializing in traditional Okinawan sweets.
The most important aspect of Arakaki Chinsuko is, without a doubt, its "texture."

What makes Arakaki Chinsuko unique is the crisp texture when you bite into it, and the melt-in-your-mouth texture that you wouldn't expect from a baked good.
The fragrant aroma of Arakaki Chinsuko spreads in your mouth, and you can enjoy the contrast in textures!

Many people might think that Okinawa only has chinsuko (Okinawan shortbread).
Among the many Okinawan sweets, "Chinsuko" is popular and recommended because it's a baked good with a long shelf life and comes in a convenient size, but there are many other options as well!
Arakaki Chinsuko is creating a type of Ryukyuan confectionery unlike anything you've ever encountered before.
There are some items that are only available in stores, so you should definitely check them out!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It's the most popular item in our store, especially among our regular customers.
These treats are very popular as a staple to keep on hand, adding a touch of elegance to enjoyable tea time.
Since it keeps well, it's a great souvenir to bring to the office.
