Top 3 Major Fireworks Festivals in Okinawa
JAL PRESENTS Ryukyu Sea Fire Festival (Mid-April/Ginowan)
Every year on the second Saturday of April, approximately 10,000 fireworks are launched at Tropical Beach in Ginowan Seaside Park, a spectacle dubbed "Japan's earliest summer fireworks display." Held around the time when many beaches in Okinawa have officially opened for the season, these fireworks proudly signal the start of summer.
The show is spectacular, with music and fireworks harmonized through system control. Admission to the official area, reserved seats, and parking are all charged separately, and admission fees vary depending on the viewing area. Reserved seats are so popular that they often sell out by the end of March. Many boat tours are also available, and some people even charter their own cruisers.

Ocean Expo Park Fireworks Festival (mid-July/Ginowan)

The fireworks display will be held at Emerald Beach, next to Churaumi Aquarium. Churaumi Aquarium will also be open until 23 PM on the day of the fireworks! Nearly 1 people will gather to enjoy the approximately 4 fireworks, so traffic restrictions will be in place in the surrounding area. If you are going by rental car, be sure to check the official website for details in advance. The Ocean Expo Park Summer Festival will also be held at the same time, so if you want to fully enjoy the festival, taking a bus or joining a bus tour is a good option.

Daiseikyo Summer Festival
You can also see fireworks at the Ogimi Village Summer Festival. It takes place on the weekend around the Obon festival in August. There are plenty of events for spectators to participate in, including various performances for children and the elderly, as well as a goat dance and a tug-of-war to win sweets. The festival culminates in an Eisa dance performance by the village's youth association, a Kacha-shi dance by the entire venue, and a fireworks display.

Ginoza Village Festival & Chura Island Fireworks Display
On the first day of the Ginoza Village Festival, a variety of performances will be showcased, from traditional dances to street dances, and on the second day, you can see Eisa dances performed by children and several youth groups. There is no parking at the venue, but free shuttle buses will operate between the festival grounds and various locations.

Urasoe Tedako Festival
The name "Tedako" is derived from Esono Tedako, a figure who brought prominence to Urasoe.

Ryukyu Kaien Festival WINTER
In 2020, the Ryukyu Kaiensai, which is usually held in April, was postponed, and as a result, the "Ryukyu Kaiensai WINTER" was created and will be held at Kanucha Resort in December.
